I tried on 5 Terry shorts for comparison.
These have a bit of a taller waist, which is awesome for ensuring that they stay up!
They have a flat thin band of fabric across the front of the waist, and then a thicker elastic band sewn in that wraps around the back. The elastic waist is a bit more robust on these, but that will definitely help keep them in place.
I love the longer length as well, that extra half inch actually does make a different, especially if you have chubby thunder thighs (like I do!), and for whatever reason, this 8.5 inseam seemed longer than the 8.5 inseam of the other shorts I tried on.
Ultimately I decided to keep the Peleton Hi Vis and the Breakaway, for their more streamlined waist bands.
