From hardpack to peanut butter.

Whether your idea of a bike expedition is car camping with a few days of singletrack in the San Rafael Swell, or completing the Triple Crown of ultra-bikepacking, you'll need a solid, trustworthy tire that rolls fast wherever you take your two-wheeled steed. Enter the Teravail Sparwood, a lightweight, supple, durable tire engineered with treacherous mountain passes and epic quests in mind.

At 2.2in wide, this 29er tire wants to roll quickly, and yields to rider comfort on a fully loaded bikepacking rig. Small, directional lugs make up the tread pattern, and excel in propelling you forward through loose and dry conditions, whether you're on cross country trails, jeep roads, or backcountry singletrack. Should you get caught in an overnight hailstorm, turning your dry desert hardpack into peanut butter muck, the tire is equipped with wider outside lugs to shed mud and maintain traction in those critical moments.

Although the Sparwood is suitable for cross country and jeep trails, it's reinforced with woven aramid fiber, claimed to be twice as strong ad Kevlar, and lighter weight, so you don't have to give up on durability in exchange for a light weight tire with low rolling resistance.

  • A wagon wheel tire for bikepacking beyond the beaten path
  • 2.2in diameter yields to comfort but rolls quickly
  • Directional lugs propel you forward and grip corners tightly
  • Woven aramid fiber reinforces the sidewalls and tread
  • Long wearing rubber for high-mile bike expeditions

Luxurious gravel riding

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After completely wearing through a set of these tires, it felt like time to get a new set and give some feedback. I have these mounted to Stan's Arch rims on my steel Salsa Fargo. They have been perfect for gravel adventures, light singletrack work, and everyday road commuting. They definitely shine on the gravel. The fast rolling tread paired with the high side knobs when you really want to lean into a turn. I typically run these at 50 psi on the road while dropping it down to 35 psi while on gravel. Don't want to jinx the new tires, but no flats so far! The wide 2.2 width provides piles of cushion and traction for the times when the fire road turns to chunky jeep track. Absolutely love these tires! Will be hard pressed to switch to something else.
