Description

Setback and go.

The FL1.0 Carbon Offset Seatpost sits atop the Syncros line of offset seatposts to bring us vibration-dampening comfort for virtually any ride adventure. Made from carbon fiber with an aluminum clamp, this seatpost powers through long training miles on the road or loops on your favorite XC singletrack.

The FL1.0 Carbon post's clamp boasts an easy to adjust, two-bolt system that's compatible with both round and oval rails to pair with your favorite saddle. An anti-slip design ensures the saddle rails stay in place and keeps your fit on point over the miles. The seat clamp assembly on this post sits 25mm back from the seatpost's center line for riders who prefer the added stability of an offset clamp.

Reasonably light, works...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a decent but not spectacular seatpost. It is quite light but not class-leading light. It adjusts reasonably well, but grit from the road can make the adjustment process a bit, well, gritty even if you’ve tried to clean it beforehand. It is most definitely not designed to be, nor is it marketed as, particularly bump absorbing, vertically compliant, etc etc. Neither is it particularly harsh, however. All in all, it’s pretty nice without standing out in any one area. It’s OK.

Easy adjustment, good comfort

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

When I bought my Scott Addict R3 on eBay, it came equipped with a Shimano PRO V carbon seatpost. Over time, the saddle became really uncomfortable. I tried a number of different saddles, but none was comfortable. Using a level, I realized that the seatpost was clamping the saddle rails asymetrically, tilting the saddle upward from left to right. I never could get it to level. Time for a new seatpost. Competitive Cyclist gearhead recommended this as a replacement. Installed easily, using FSA carbon compound, and adjusted easily fore-and-aft, and at just the angle I wanted. On my first ride, I quickly realized I had to adjust the saddle height, fore-and-aft position and seat angle. The Allen bolts are set side-to-side, rather than the fore-and-aft bolts used on most two-bolt posts. Adjustment was easy with a standard 5mm multi-tool Allen key. Being concerned with torque limits, I snugged the bolts just enough to hold the saddle in place. The carbon post was more comfortable than the Shimano, absorbing pavement cracks and bumps. The saddle position held well, with no slippage. When I got home, I set all the bolts with a torque wrench. Looking forward to riding this seatpost for several years.
