Greater power and modulation for alloy surfaces.

'Nice ride -- How fast does it stop?' This question is asked far more often of sport cars than road bikes, which really doesn't make sense to us. After all, in the world of human-powered road racing, braking power and feel is every bit as critical. The simple story of SwissStop's new FlashPro Blue Extreme Performance (BXP) Brake Pads for alloy surfaces is that they deliver more power with less required lever force, in both wet and dry conditions. But, we'd be remiss as to not expound further.

You may be familiar with SwissStop's Green High Performance II (GHP II) pads, respected for their superior combination of power, modulation, durability, and value. Assuredly, SwissStop could have rested on the reputation of the GHP II compound, but that wouldn't be consistent with its tradition of innovation. SwissStop's parent company, Rex Articoli, is a specialist in technical rubber compounds. And in 2010, it invested in new machinery and materials in order to further develop and refine the BXP compound for alloy surfaces. The goal was simple: Provide greater power and modulation, while maintaining durability and limiting brake squeal.

Now, a few years later, the proof is in the testing. To go from 60 to 0 km/h in dry conditions, BXP Pads required only 35 meters. That's eight fewer than GHP II Pads, and much fewer than the competition. When 180 Newtons (N) of force were exerted on the brake lever, BXP Pads produced 800N of braking force -- a 200N improvement over GHP II. Additionally, the response of BXP is more linear, meaning that there's no sudden grabbing. From pad engagement to wheel lockout, the harder you squeeze, the more you slow.

The SwissStop FlashPro BXP Brake Pads come in a complete set of four pads, and are designed to be used with Shimano and SRAM brakes. For Campagnolo, choose the RacePro BXP Pads.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These brake pads are pretty grippy compared to stock, or the older Swiss Stop compound. Need a lot less force on the lever to get the same braking. They are a bit grabby right out of the package, but seem to get better after a bit of use. Cool dark blue/purple color.

Update: got caught in the rain and learned that the wet weather braking of these pads is exceptionally good.

Wouldn't fit in Ultegra calipers

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

These say that they fit Shimano, but would not fit in my Ultegra 6800 calipers. I have no idea how they brake as I returned them without using them.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just put on my Felt a couple of weeks ago, first ride out this weekend. Provided good modulation for the 60.5 miles; the only complaint was a little squeal from the front tires, hopefully this will go away as they break in on the RS-10 Shimano wheelset.

Blue, not black

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So when i bought these pad they look black, but indeed they are a dark blue and very noticeable on an all black bike. as far as the performance goes so far they're great looking forward to some new pads for sure.

consistent performance

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these are a nice replacement for OEM pads. Using crappy Campy single pull rear and double pull front brake setup, I was clenching my saddle a little with my sphincter coming down some crazy descents into Sonoma county from Napa. Switching to these pads results in better stopping power on allow rims. Interestingly, these pads have very similar performance when wet as opposed to dry on alloy rims. I recommend them. They are not quite as good as Reynolds blue on Reynolds carbon rims in the dry to give some perspective.

So much stopping power

Awesome brake pads. Cheap and last long. You can't go wrong with them. Simple pads to replace your OEM pads.

great pads

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pads have great feel and are easy to modulate as well as being quiet. Highly recommend.

After coming down one of the local canyons by my house a few weeks i realized my brakes were not doing the job anymore. Wanted to upgrade to something that wasn't going to destroy my wallet but still got the job done. After much review i decided to go with these and have been very Satisfied.. They almost stopped to well at first.. ( guess i was not used to having good brakes haha) well worth the 30 dollars.

Solid enough

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nice break pads. Used them to replace the stock Shimano pads on my BR-R650 calipers. Hard to notice if they're perceptibly better since the prior pads were so worn and slightly misaligned by the end of it. The BXPs are pretty sharp - nice grab in the dry and wet. Silent. I ride over 100 miles ~5000ft per week commuting and get into the mountains/fire roads on weekends.

712.1 miles on them per Strava as of this writing and they're looking pretty fresh. Oh yeah, they're a bit more blue/purple in color than the images on this page show (I think Comp.Cyc. pulled a stock black photo).

Solid enough

Great and inexpensive upgrade

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

On any new bike these are one of the first things I change out. Stopping power, feel and modulation are all superior to the original pads.

Normally good, mine were not.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Normally these are great pads but my set are subject to some sort of manufacturing fault. The right side pads don't fit all the way into the blocks. For some reason both the front as rear are not shaped correctly and won't go all the way in.
I've had these before ad they are great pads...I just got dudded.

Perfect... much better than stock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Much faster stopping than stock Ultegra.

So far, so good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My initial impressions are good. They come with pad-screws. Fit well. Time will tell what their performance is given more riding conditions.

Scary Good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are the best aluminum brake pads I've ever ridden. They come close to matching the exalith Mavic wheels, not quite but for a $30 investment WAY worth it. Make my lute gar brakes feel like uber high end stoppers. Grabby without sending you over the bars with great modulation not sure why any other aluminum pads exist. BUY THESE.

Work great!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been hard on my set from downhill cornering for sure! Living in the mountains that is where you tear them up for sure. The fronts went quicker than the rear but overall they work great even in wet conditions! So for the money I cannot bad mouth them or say they did not perform as expected.

Great stopping power!

Look no further. The rubber compound makes these pads super grippy and provide great modulation and control on aluminum rims in all conditions. Definitely a great option for those looking to replace worn pads.
