SwissStop FlashPro Black Prince Brake Pad - 4-Pack
Item # SUI0012
SwissStop stops.
Compatible with both Shimano and SRAM brakes, SwissStop FlashPro Elite Black Prince Brake Pads are for carbon rims only.
FlashPro means that the pads are compatible with Shimano and SRAM brake calipers. To better the performance over the previous Flash pads, the FlashPro has deeper asymmetrical grooves and a more pronounced leading edge profile. The idea is to "squeegee" away more water to improve the wet weather performance and the deeper grooves help give the pads better modulation. SwissStop increased the total pad depth with more material above the wear line -- good news for those folks that live in the high mountains.
Known for its excellent modulation, the Black Prince compound brings the feel of braking on aluminum to carbon rims, and offers powerful braking in all weather conditions, including cold and rain.
- Slide-in cartridge attachment
- Shimano and SRAM compatibility
- Use with carbon rims
- Each package includes 4 brake pads

Will these fit canti brakes? If not, any suggestions for alternatives that will fit canti brakes? Thanks :)

Amazing Brake Pads for Shimano Wheelsets

I'm using this on my Zipp 404 NSW wheelset, they brake better than Zipp's Platinum Pro Evo brakepads. Don't think, just buy them. You won't regret it.

They stop!

This is my first set of carbon wheels. The original cork pads were fine in dry conditions and scary bad when it got wet. These new pads stop so well I forget I'm riding carbon. What more can you ask for? Our group rides average 20+ mph so both modulation in the pack and sheer stopping power when negotiating tight turns at the bottom of a descent are important. These pads deliver.

I have Bontrager Aeolus pro 5 carbon rims and have used these for the past two changes. They are great in all conditions, and I am afraid to use anything else.

The best pads for the rain on carbon wheels. Of course they aren't as good a aluminum but the best if you are riding on carbon wheels.

Good Upgrade
Since my carbon wheels are well out of warranty, I've opted for the Black Prince. Having the improved compound for multiple conditions and an alloy rim modulation makes these a great choice. Easy to install and can't wait to use in wet conditions.

If you are out of the warranty period on your wheels switch over to these ASAP! I ride the all of the canyons around my home and trust these pads without a doubt. Little Cottonwood canyon as an average grade of 9.2 percent and i ride it almost weekly and these pads have held up great. I do only weigh 150 pounds and i am a confident descender though. Don't hesitate with these. they are great.

The Right Pads
- Familiarity:

Yeah, just to confirm what has been said. Only run the pads that the rim manufacturer recommends. If you are running non recommended pads, say goodbye to your warranty. In some instances using a pad like these on the wrong rim will ruin your wheels. With that said, these work really well, I had a little bit of noise at first so I just toed them in more aggressively than I originally had and they ran quiet from then on. Lifespan is solid too.

Do these pads work on aluminum rims, and are there four pads in one order?

Most wheel manufacturers want you to use their pads otherwise you void the warranty. But if you're out of the warranty period, get these pads. Super grip, no noise, long lasting.

Just to confirm, are these supposed to work on aluminum rims? Only the "Elite" version are for carbon rims only, correct?

According to the Swissstop website, Black Prince pads are for carbon wheels.

Hi Kevin, they can be used on alloy rims, however if you are switching back and forth between aluminum and carbon, you will want to inspect the pads and remove the metal burs that they gather with aluminum use. If you are just looking for a good aluminum pad, there are better and cheaper options from Swissstop.

As expected from SwissStop

Just installed these and have had 2 rides with my Zipp's. Toed them in as instructed and aside from some break in squeal, they are working as expected. I have yet to ride them on a long down hill yet but so far so good. I will have to report back later after some more miles.

For just carbon brake surfaces these are unmatched so far even in wet conditions. Each carbon surface is different but these are very solid. In fact i like the braking with these on carbon over a normal alloy braking surface with alloy pads.

If you have carbon fiber wheels and have been using the Swisstop yellow king pads you will want to strongly consider the Black Prince. They appear to be a bit softer and braking is significantly improved. They will squeal when new unless you make sure to have some toe-in as recommended. Got caught in the rain a few times and while stopping distance did increase, pulsing the brakes to dry the tracks occasionally while riding improved stopping performance when needed. Still prefer allow wheels in the wet but sometimes "rain happens" and the carbon fiber wheels are my preferred. Using second generation SRAM Rival group.
