DART Tool

Tubeless tires were supposed to mean the end of flats, but while flats are significantly reduced, they still remain a part of our life with tubeless setups. Stan's DART Tool aims to make the inevitable tear or large puncture quick to fix by plugging even large tears and holes with its barbed tip that anchors into the tire, and instantly reacts with latex sealant to form an instant, airtight seal. The barbed tip is designed to lock into place while riding, and pairs up with flexible material that conforms to punctures and bonds with sealant, wearing off clean, so you don't have to ride with scissors, or feel a bump in your tire with every rotation.

Doesn't work

I've bought two Dart tools and a replenishment kit for my 32mm Continental Gran Prix 5000 road bike tires. This plastic tool has not fixed any of the three punctures I experienced on the road over the last year. =" The Dynaplug repair kit is metal and has worked 100% on the two punctures I needed to repair. This is a more expensive option, but it actually works!

Didn't work for me. Buy something else.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I pressed the tip of the plug through my tire and the rubber part of the plug slid up the stem of the applicator. This happened with both plugs.

Avoid this product - not worth it

Familiarity:

I love Stan's no-tubes for preventing punctures. However, when it comes to the Dart Tool, my experience is like others here, I have found on 4 tries now (2 each on two punctures) the little sharp tip penetrates the tire but the patch itself just gets pushed up into the tool and is wasted. Doesn't seem to matter if you enlarge the hole or not. The worst part is how you get to think about how you have relied on this piece of crab while you walk your bike 6 miles back to the car. Back to carrying a spare tube for emergencies. Tom

Garbage

Familiarity:

I actually needed to use this today, and it failed miserably. Apparently my tire was too thick or the hole too small; the plastic arrowhead would not easily fit through the puncture, and applying more force broke the carbon stabber post thing, rendering the whole thing useless. Fortunately a buddy had a good ol' metal fork-type plug with bacon strips, which worked great. I would absolutely not trust this thing to fix a tire to get me home.

I tried 3 times to plus a tire with a small hole and the tip went inside and the rubber wouldn?t. Used a bacon strip and still using the tire. Don?t buy this product

Not what I was hoping for

I have a gravel bike with WTB tires that got a cut in the center tread. The stans sealant would not close the hole so I used a bacon strip. As long as I kept the psi low in the tire it got me home. The tires were new so I thought I would buy the Stan's Darts to try and save the tire. I added fresh Stan's sealant to the tire and then tried to insert the dart. The first one I tried failed. The plastic tip inserted in the tire and the plug just pushed up the pin on the tool rendering it useless. I tried a second dart and it did the same thing. I contacted Stan's and they said the hole might not have been large enough for the dart. They replaced the darts under warranty with free shipping. Happy about Stan's customer service, disappointed in the dart.

No go

Had a puncture and watched the how to video. Tip went in but the rubber piece stayed outside the tire. Figured hole was too small, enlarged it and tried again. Same result.

Just started running tubeless. Put this thing in my saddle bag on the recommendation of my gear head. Out with the guys and one of us got a big side-wall hole. It really worked! We put about 40 more gravel miles on that fix with no issues. Recommend watching the video on this so you know how to use it. NOTE: it is not recommended for punctures smaller than 5mm. For those the sealant alone is supposed to work. I just ordered a refill pack.

Still have to carry bacon strips.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These Do Not work on smaller holes, the plastic insertion tip breaks off before the fabric dart is inserted. Left me stranded, would not recommend as a stand alone solution.

Spreading good karma

Long story short. If I see some one on the trail looking at their bike likes some thing is wrong I ask if they need help. Guy had a decent gash in his tire. I stabbed it with the dart and presto. G2g! I haven't even used it for myself yet but was so happy to see how well the product works. Worth the money. Got a refill kit on order too.
