Knowledge is power.

As the brand who changed the landscape of power meters for self-sponsored cyclists and weekend warriors, Stages holds a special place in many riders' efficiently beating hearts. After years of sticking to power meters only, Stages has introduced its next innovation. The Dash system includes both a GPS Bike Computer as well as a cloud-based training platform called Link, and the system offers cyclists using Stages power meters already or those just starting out to sync their entire power and training systems under the gaze of one hyper-intelligent training system. No, we're not trying to call Dash a robot. But don't say we didn't warn you that it's pretty damn smart. Rely on the Dash GPS Bike Computer to keep track of and display just about any metric you could want while you're out on a ride.

As you tighten up your training regimen ahead of a busy race season, this streamlined head unit will focus your workouts using all of the classic power-based metrics. If you choose to use Stages' Link platform along with your head unit and power meter, you'll gain access to a catalog of pre-made workouts, as well as added metrics like Functional Threshold Power (FTP) as well as optimal training zones fine-tuned to your fitness level. As you ride in Workout Mode, you'll receive either audio or visual cues when your intervals change, ensuring you stay on-track whether you remember what you're supposed to be doing in the dizzying last seconds of an all-out sprint — or not. Once you finish up your workout and upload it to Stages Link, you'll be able to see how you did, but if you're partial to another online training platform, the Dash will get along just fine with it as well.

  • Step up your training with this highly detailed head unit
  • Customize to display between 1 and 16 fields of your choice
  • Display can be customized on-the-go or online
  • HR, cadence, and speed sensors sold separately
  • Displays FTP and power when paired with Stages power meter
  • Screen can be viewed in either landscape or portrait
  • Uploads data wirelessly to Stages Link and other platforms

The Next Generation

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As the first Stages cycling computer, there was no implicit need to pile improvements on improvements but rather take a fresh look at what cyclists really need. Tired of bells and whistles on top of bells, finally Stages Dash provides what I really want if I am to spend money on upgrading.
1. The horizontal display is very easy to read with multiple data windows that can be sized individually. It can be flipped vertically for traditionalists.
2. There is complete control of what data is shown and where it is displayed. This lets the focus be on what is most important to you, not what the manufacturer thinks is important to the most people.
3. There are buttons for everything. I thought touch sensitive screens were an improvement but I have not been able to get any Garmin touch screens to work with any winter touch enabled glove. Having to remove a glove to operate a cycling computer in the winter is a true pain.
4. The Stages Dash is astonishingly easy to set up. It is intuitive, almost to a fault. The only time I had a problem was when I over thought it and did not follow the easy to understand instructions. Every cycling computer I have owned always took a few trial runs to get everything to work. The Stages Dash worked flawlessly right out of the box.
5. For anyone who thinks this is only for Power users, it works great without a power meter too. Power is a plus with this cycling computer, not really the only reason to get it.
6. The price is right. The Dash is a great value given its' cost compared to other computers that offer much less, especially considering the robust Stages Link analytical tools.

Great, right out of the box!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am super impressed with this product so far! Immediately, you know it's going to be great because it recognizes your power meter and starts recording activity. Right out of the box it's settings are a great baseline. I haven't played with the screen layout too much, and I think the only thing I want to add to the home page is elapsed time...but, you can display a ton of data and completely manipulate the size of each data field in order to fit all the things you're after.
