A fresh coat of paint.

SRAM's venerable XG-1190 cassette is back with a cosmetic face lift to match the company's updated Red branding and the new RED eTap system. Like the standard Red 22 model, the SRAM XG-1190-A2 Cassette features PowerdomeX construction and StealthRing elastomer to provide a precise and quiet shifting experience.

With the latest Powerdome X construction, the middle nine cogs on the XG-1190 are machined from a single block of high-grade tool steel — a technique similar to that of SRAM's popular XG-1099 mountain cassette — to create a hollow, inspiring piece of engineering that is both stiff and exceptionally lightweight. Excess noise is effectively dissipated, leaving you with nothing but smooth, crisp, and reliable shifting. To further reduce noise, SRAM fits an elastomer StealthRing between each cog to engage, dampen, and eliminate any excess chatter from the chain.

SRAM recommends pairing the XG-1190 with its Red 22 or PC-1170 chain. The XG-1190 is compatible with SRAM Red eTap, Red, Force, and Rival components. Please note that Red eTap only supports cassettes up to 11-28t, so the 11-30 and 11-32 versions of the XG-1190 are not compatible with Red eTap rear derailleurs.

  • Nearly silent shifts and a featherweight, top-tier design
  • Elastomer rings between each cog dampen road noise
  • Hollow middle cogs shave weight and maintain stiffness
  • All-new aesthetics updated to match Red eTap

11-30 Hits the Sweet Spot

I've put it through the wringer

I'm 190cm, 95kg, and living in the Pacific Northwest I hardly see a ride with less than 1,000m of climbing and some of the big days are 150-200km with 3,000-4,000 meters of climbing with grades up to 16% or so. I run a 50/34 up front but the 11-28 just wasn't enough and with SRAM RED22 eTap short cage going above a 28 wasn't an option. So I swapped out the short cage for a Ceramicspeed OPWS and went to the 11-30. This truly hits the sweet spot, the 30 is enough for 95% of the really steep stuff and the upper mid-range on the 11-30 let's me stay on the big ring for punchy stuff and mid-distance climbs where I would normally have had to drop down onto the small ring up front. So for me this is a much better match to my watt/kg power curve. The 11-30 gives nothing away on the "flats", I'm faster through the punchy stuff, and that 27, 30 is perfect for those long steep climbs.

Used Properly, the 11-32 is a Weapon!

I've put it through the wringer

I have an 11-32 WiFi Red Casette, and I love it. While it's not an ideal everyday cassette for me, it is perfect for more situations that I thought it would. I initially bought it to use with a CeramicSpeed OSPW set up for 150 mile ride with 12,000 feet of Cat 1 and 2 climbs. With this set up, you need every single link of chain that comes in a new Sram chain! While riding this set up on flatter terrain where I live, I found myself using my bike almost like a 1X, hardly ever using the inner ring to hammer up short, punchy climbs. Being able to use your big ring, (I have a 34) and not needing to double shift after smaller climbs is a HUGE bonus when it comes to regaining your momentum and gapping others. For a 32 tooth, it's quite light. Like my 11-28 Red cassette, it hasn't chewed up my freehub. Your friends might give you some crap about how big it looks, but you'll get the last laugh! Make sure you've got a medium cage or an OSPW set up and you'll be golden!

Is your cage the short or WiFi version? I have the short cat with ceramicspeed OSPW and I want to use a bigger Cassete with it.

Better Than Previous Versions

I've put it through the wringer

With the Red Cassettes from SRAM we had noticed in the past that they did two things. Had a tendency to wear out relatively quickly, and were incredibly noisy. With the newest version of their red carpet cassette they have eliminated both of these issues. The 1190 offers a very smooth transition between cogs when shifting, and all the while being significantly less vocal during the process. The longevity I have noticed to be fantastic so far as well, granted we're only half way through a year into the rides. If you're looking for the place to shave grams while allowing your bike to be as precise as possible, this is the way to go!

I get around 8k of year round use

The force cassettes are good for maybe a couple thousand more. 11-30 runs fine on my E-Tap S-Works tarmac.

Are you using a WiFi or can you get away with the short cage using 30 teeth?

Works great with Etap

Light and works

Have used these on road and in cyclocross with no issues. Work well and seem to last long time.

11-30 on Etap short cage yes

I've used it several times

Depending on your hanger you can use an 11-30 on sram etap short cage, I just put the red 11-30 on my Cervelo R3 and it works fine.

Is this cassette compatible with Shimano road 11 speed cassette and chain?

Yup, no problems there.

light for race day

I've used it several times

race day cassette, light and crisp shifting. I'd recommend this cassette for racing not for daily use.

Just triple checking that an 11-28t XG-1190 cassette is compatible etap. Can you confirm before I order.

Absolutely, running it on my Zipp 303's, swap back & forth with 1-25, no issues.

SRAM 11-speed compatible, 28t maximum capacity WiFLi™ option fits up to 32t

The Best Jerry.....The Best

Lightweight, smooth, accurate shifting performance. Not much more you can ask for in a cassette.
