Description

Makin' magic.

In creating the more budget-friendly X1 1x11 group, SRAM also introduced new value-oriented 1x11 parts, such as this SRAM X1 Chain. The interface between the chainrings and the chain of SRAM's new 1x11 drivetrains is where half the magic happens, thanks to the X-SYNC chainrings' specially-shaped teeth that virtually lock the chain to the ring to prevent chain drop. While the X1 chain doesn't have the Hard Chrome durability-enhancing treatment of the more expensive XX1 chain, it's built around the same reliable, smooth-shifting 1x11 drivetrain geometry, and from excellent materials spawned from generations of SRAM's toughest chains.

How many links does this chain have? According to SRAM's website they come in quite a few flavors.

Reliable and inexpensive

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this chain on my 1x11 SRAM NX drive train, and it works perfectly. Nothing exciting to report, really. In the chain world, that’s good news!

I have 30 teeth on my front chainring, and run an 11-42 cassette on the back, and the chain has links to spare, so it should fit large cassettes as well.

A Review About This Chain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Another one for the books you can say. Very easy to adjust the size if needed, just need a chain breaker. Has been doing it's job and it's been getting me places all in one piece.

Works great with a long lifespan

11 speed SRAM chains are my go-to on my 11 speed mountain bike. They tend to last longer than Shimano chains in my experience so I use these with my Shimano drivetrain. Not the lightest but it is strong!

This chain shifts!

Great chain at a better price. Runs smoothly through my derailer and moves from gear to gear with ease.

Great chain!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

A great chain for a great price! Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

No complaints here!

Affordable and gets the job done. Definitely would recommend!

Great chain and great price too!

It does what a good chain should do hahahaha! Keeps my wheels cranking. Feels solid and was easy to cut down to size and install. If you need an 11 speed chain this is the one to get. Maybe not the lightest chain out there, but if you take care of it it will last you a long time!

Great n' cheap

Super awesome chain that gets the job done and keeps the price low. NO complaints.

Good, simple chain

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nothing to complain about, just works as a nice good new chain should!

CHEAP CHAINS ARE MY FAVORITE CHAINS!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's a high-wear item. Don't spend a ton of money on a chain. Get one that is good enough, and move on

X1 11spd chain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Does what a chain needs to do! great replacement chain for a solid price! The quick link makes it easy to install on or off.

Solid

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Unless you're chasing grams, skip the fancier hollow pin chains. These do the job nicely.

I've logged about 400 miles on this chain and with routine maintenance and care she'll continue to perform for you.

Occasionally, I will notice some squeaking from the chain and cassette, but after a nice wash a solid lubrication session this chain is built to last.

I tend to go through a couple chains per season, but depending on how often you ride you may be looking at sticking with one or going with three. Always more affordable to replace your chain than your whole drive train.

Durable, essential and affordable.

SRAM’s GX component group is no slouch. Sure, it may not be as light and loaded with Carbon this and Titanium that, like SRAM’s XX1 and XO1 group, but if you are after a 1X Shifting group that just plain works and does not break the bank, then this is for you. Functionally you would be hard pressed to discern the difference between the GX and the XX1 in a blind test, weight is another story though, especially with the cassette being a pinned steel cassette, rather than the alloy work of art that is the XO1 and XX1 cassette.

Its a good chain

Solid chain. Is it as high tech as some others? No. Will it get the job done? yes. Installation and everything is a breeze, and lasts long too.

Can't beat the value for the price point. Sure, its not the lightest, but why spend triple the price on a few grams. Go ride your bike.
