Description

Wings.

With SRAM's new one-by, 12-speed Eagle drivetrains sending front derailleurs and 11-speed cassettes packing, it might just be time to upgrade your ride. The SRAM X01 Eagle 12-Speed BB30 Direct Mount Boost Crankset enjoys much of the same technology found in the flagship XX1 Eagle group. It does feature less obviously blingy graphics and leaves a few extra dollars in the bank for delicious post-ride brews, though. This version bumps the chainline out three millimeters to pair with your Boost-equipped frameset for race-worthy power transfer and impeccable chain retention.

Eagle's X-Sync 2 chainring builds on the original X-Sync chainring's renowned chain retention ability with a few changes that come with claims of even better chain control. As with the original, each tooth is CNC-machined to support the chain's inner- and outer-link widths by providing a variable thickness from tooth-to-tooth, so the chain and chainring essentially lock together and push away mud with ease. Where the original X-Sync teeth took on a boxy shape, Eagle's chainring boasts aggressively profiled teeth that hold the chain like a catnip-infused cat digging its claws into a brand-new screen door before letting it glide seamlessly back to the cassette for smooth, friction-free spinning.

SRAM utilizes its Carbon Tuned technology to fashion the X01 Eagle arms with a proprietary carbon layup that increases stiffness where it's needed and minimizing excess material for an overall reduction in weight. In contrast to its top-tier XX1 Eagle cousin's hollow core construction, the X01 Eagle crank arms feature a foam core that adds a handful of grams to keep costs down without impacting responsiveness. The direct-mount chainring interface also affords the option of quickly subbing different rings for different shapes of terrain, allowing flexibility to adapt to the day's planned route.

  • A crankset that sets the standard for 12-speed drivetrains
  • Stiff carbon layup for efficient power transfer
  • Foam core construction reduces weight with a budget in mind
  • Aggressive tooth shape locks the chain in line
  • Easily customize gearing with centerlock chainring

Any idea if this crank will work with a 2016 Pivot 429 Trail.
Here's the info from their site:
Pivot is the first frame manufacturer to feature the 92mm wide bottom bracket shell standard, originally developed in conjunction with Shimano XTR. With the press fit 92 system, there are no external washers or threads in the shell. The bearings are housed in light composite resin cups with a full sealed sleeve to keep out the elements. This design allows for easy crank installation, with no frame facing or special spacers required. Chain line is perfectly optimized and as an added advantage, the bearings are extremely easy to replace. Another bonus is that the XTR version includes a 3 year warranty from Shimano. The system works with Shimano, FSA and Race Face cranks (all compatible with the Shimano cup design) as well as the SRAM GXP system for which SRAM offers both standard and ceramic versions. In addition, Enduro and several other aftermarket companies offer both replacement bottom brackets and bearings to support every major crank brand.
