Description

Why We Like The Rival 22 ZeroLoss 11-Speed Shifters

Ideally, shifting is one of those things you hardly even notice, but experience tells us all that isn't always the case. Things get out of whack, drivetrains get worn, and all of a sudden it's a battle to get into the right gear, generally when your need to shift is most pressing. SRAM's ZeroLoss technology within the Rival 22 ZeroLoss 11-Speed Shifters provides instant reaction from your shifters and cables, so there's no lag time between pulling a lever and changing gears, and it automatically adjusts trim to ensure smooth, quiet drivetrains that feel just about perfect. DoubleTap shifting, cribbed from SRAM's top-shelf Red groupset, makes for short, quick shifts, and SRAM's reach adjust design lets you move the levers closer to or farther from the bars to suit your hand size. The aluminum levers are light and tough, and SRAM designed them with two different cable routing options, so you can run cables along the inside or outside of your bars for a streamlined look and killer efficiency.

  • SRAM's lightweight alloy shifters dial in the perfect ride
  • Forged aluminum sheds weight to maintain reliability and comfort
  • DoubleTap shifting technology changes gears easier and faster
  • Zero Loss technology enhances immediate engagement
  • Reach adjust dials in the perfect lever and paddle position

Long time SRAM user

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

This has been my go to for a budget build for gravel or a project bike to get it rolling. I paired this recently with a Force rear Derailleur and that is the key to longevity for the whole drivetrain. I average about 3000-3500 miles a year over 2 bikes and I can get 2 gravel seasons out of the rear shifter. would recommend for cable actuated brakes.

Great Shifters

Great and solid shifters, put this on a 1x build with a long cage rival derailleur, works great

Does the right lever come with any housing or inner cable?

Excellent shifting action

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Clean, precise shifting. Easy action and a perfect level of tactile feedback so you know when you've completed a shift. The double-tap shifting sounds counter-intuitive, but turns into second nature after a few shifts and I appreciate how clean it keeps the look of the levers. Pre-installed shift cables, sensible brake cable installation, and multiple cable routing options make them a snap to set up if you're a DIY mechanic. In short - these don't look, feel, or perform cheap. Excellent choice for adventure rigs, commuters, or upgrades to older bikes. If you care about great shifting performance but aren't too concerned about weight, these are the ticket!

Is this compatible with hydraulic brakes?

The picture shows a right side shifter. Is the the right side shift/brake lever for 85 dollars?

Will these shifters work with an X9 type 2 ten speed rear derailleur? (I want to run a 36t in the back)

Are these actually carbon levers? Because...

Are these actually carbon levers? Because on SRAM's website is says the levers are aluminum... I think the carbon levers start on the Force level.

Aluminum for sure.

Someone better correct that in the last paragraph then...

These are made of forged aluminum. Here is a link to the SRAM website http://www.sram.com/sram/road/products/sram-rival-22-doubletap-mechanical-shifters
