It was only a matter of time before SRAM's systematic change to 12-speed drivetrains took to the road market, and with that wait came the craving for power options within a beefier drivetrain. Fortunately our ask was answered before we could even get it out into the air with SRAM's Red AXS 1 DUB 12-Speed Aero Power Meter Crankset. With this new crankset's revamp, the fundamental concept of gearing has changed from the constant need to fiddle with up and down shifts, to the cleaner, more simple one-by system, paired with aerodynamics to reach for gains wherever they can be found. Furthermore, SRAM was able to bring the ability to quantify wattage in the masses, allowing you to fine-tune your training to set goals and blow past them.

Naturally, the hollow arms are constructed of carbon providing strength, stiffness, and low weight. SRAM uses a proprietary layup that increases the thickness in critical areas while tapered, terraced, carbon architecture reduces weight elsewhere. Next up is the oversized aluminum DUB spindle, that first appeared on its mountain groups, now available for the first time on the road. This standard significantly adds durability to the bottom bracket bearings and broader frame compatibility without sacrificing stiffness.

But perhaps the most significant change with this crank comes from the new chainrings. These all-new, direct mount rings are machined from a single block of lightweight aluminum making them as stiff as possible for faster, crisper, and more consistent shifting. If you're looking for an aerodynamic setup, you'll be pleased to find this particular model offers either 48-tooth or 50-tooth options that find the balance between having a double up front, which pairs up with the 12-speed cassette in back to achieve nearly as many gears as your old 2x11 setup, but with a more simply application that omits a front derailleur.
