The SRAM 'PowerGlide' shifting experience is well-known in the cycling world today, as it should be. The crisp, positive, and reliable shifting that results from the PG cassettes have resulted in many converts to SRAM's smooth design platform. From its Apex group on up through Red, SRAM's leading technologies continue to drive the industry forward, and its latest cassette iterations are helping to lead the charge.

SRAM's PG-1050 stands as the cornerstone of its WiFli (Wider range of gears, Faster shifts, Lighter than triples) road system. The cassette provides the necessary range between big and little cogs to create the mountain goat climbing and city limit sprinting gears you'll need to make the most of every ride. With SRAM now implementing the 11-36 and 12-36 options, you'll be covered for almost any roads imaginable.

Like SRAM's higher end offerings, the PG-1050 Cassette employs an aluminum spider to create an attachment for the largest cogs in order to save a few grams. The nickel-plated cogs are all steel for long life, and the cassette comes in at a reasonable 250g (11-23T) and 299g (11-32T), respectively. SRAM's PowerGlide technology ensures that there are ramps and teeth designed to pickup and release your chain for quick flawless shifts every time.

The PG-1050 is available in several ratios. Its spline configuration allows it to fit on any Shimano 9/10-speed freehub, and it's compatible with any 10-speed chain: SRAM, Shimano, or Wippermann's S-series chains. What SRAM suggests, of course, is that you use one of their 10-speed PC-1000 series chains for optimal shifting. Includes a forged, anodized, and laser-etched lockring.

Great cassette at great price

I've used it several times

My chain and cassette needed replacement on my Cervelo R3SL with Shimano 105 rear derailleur and I considered more expensive options before choosing this SRAM PG-1050. It works beautifully and shifts precisely and silently. We'll see about how well it lasts but so far I'm very satisfied.

Bang for your Buck

I've put it through the wringer

Super cassette for someone who rides bikes hard and is perhaps a heavier-rider. Metal holds up to quick gear shifts as well as extended use in dirty/tough terrain conditions.

The PG1050 cassette is affordable and lasts for what seems to be forever. Heavier than most cassettes in the SRAM line up, but the trade off for a cassette that is reliable is worth it.


I have a SRAM Force rear derailleur on a 2014 Giant TCX cross bike. How can I know if it's compatible with an 11-32T cassette (or if it's mid/short cage length)?

I bought my first sram cassette and ran on a shimano DA setup looking for a better gearing range. I went back to an ultegra because there was a weight penalty involved

What is the weight difference?


I run red front derailleur and force rear derailleur on my bike. Will 12-32 cassette work with this setup or do I need a different rear derailleur to accommodate the 32t?

If you're running a medium length cage, it'll work.

Fat man Gear

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Riding a 2013 Trek Domane 2.0. Great bike but as someone that only gets to ride at best a couple of times a week was missing the triple in my old bike. Swapped out the rear cassette and replaced the stock 30 tooth with this 32 tooth. Enjoying the extra lower gear to help on the hills. No more than I ride I need all the help I can get when I get about the 60 mile mark. On not is to make sure that you have the correct derailleur. For the 32 tooth at least on the Domane I had to swap that as well. The 2013 model had the short cage. Had to swap and use the long cage.

Works with Shimano 105 5600 shifter!

Upgraded my bike for climbing. Used this cassette with DR5701GS (rear derailleur) with 5600 105 shifters. Worked like a charm and I didn't need to buy a new 11 speed 5700 groupset to get to 32 cog in rear!


Is the 11-32 really (11,12,14,16,18,20,22,25,28,32)? The SRAM website lists it as (11-12-13-15-17-19-22-25-28-32).

Use this on my trainer wheel

I've put it through the wringer

Picked the 1050 up to go with my trainer specific wheel for winter use. I have the 1070 on my riding wheels and don't notice much of a difference between shifting quality between the 1070 and 1050. Seems to me it boils down to weight.

Great gears for climbing!

I've used it several times

The cassette is very substancial for climbing. I am coming from a 12-25 105 system to this gearing on the Orca. The 28-32 gives a bit more for steeper climbs if you are prone to areas with some decent grades. I live in the NC mountains so to find total flats impossible but that would be boring. I do dislike the lower gearing on the 11 cog for it turns like a hopped chain. But it is a sacrifice for that 28-32 I guess. I rather have some option for the climbs than not. Overall a decent cassette so far.

I have the 32 cassette that came w the orbea. Looking to do some major climbs. Will this 36 fit fine on that set up?its a ten speed compact crankset w 32 largest cassette currently.

You'll have to check your rear derailleur's limit to see what it can take.
