Competitive cyclists really came through. Broke my Shifter Saturday. Went to local bike shops Sun/Mon along with calling around. No one around Minneapolis could get a GX or better grip shift for weeks. Ordered through Competitive Cyclists Tuesday afternoon and it arrived (express shipping) Thursday. Brought to my local store for installation and was on the trail the same day. Replaced a XO1 trigger shifter. Will not be going back. This shifter is easy peasy. All the gears in either direction are a twist away. No need for click click clicking like the dickens. I have ran Shimano xt or xtr for years and have loved them. The Sram xo1 trigger was very disappointing. Not ergonomic & a lot of work getting through gears. I thought I was gonna need to swap my xx1 derailleur/crank/cassette for shimano equivalent but now am completely satisfied. The 1x12 is terrific. I think I still prefer a double for chain line efficiency but no one even offers it on top of the line x-country bikes anymore. Try the gripshift at this price level. You won't be disappointed.

Bike came with xo1 trigger shifter. Could not find a comfortable position for it and my thumb was constantly nudging into it. Plus shifting to a hard gear was tough-button is tucked behind the other trigger. Moved it all around including the low gears ability to adjust and could not find a comfortable position or ability to shift quickly. When the bolt holding the low gear shifter stripped when trying to adjust it & I was in a pinch to get a quick fix I decided to try GX grip shift. Totally happy with it. Maybe it is too simple for people to like. Maybe the stigma from the early '90's of it being crap is sticking with it. When my xo1 shifter comes back for warranty repair I'll be leaving the GX eagle 12 spd grip shift on the bike. Works flawlessly. 100 mile ride I have zero callouses and no quibbles about shifting. Never missed a shift & never errantly shifted. I had heard this is the issue with it but I never experienced this once. I could see if you were coming off a hard drop or hit a rock super hard you might jam the handlebar & twist the shifter. In it's defense the xo1 triggers were so poor for ergonomics with my hand I could see jamming a trigger on an impact. So I'm a convert. I still love shimano triggers as they fit & work for me. But sram triggers I take a pass & use my eagle 12 spd setup with the grip shift. Shift as many gears either direction any time you want nearly instantly. What is not to like? I will say the lock on grip on the shifter side is slightly loose-which i'll be taking to the bike shop as sram bolts easily strip when tightened (from my experience).

Grippy Shifty Goodness

Grip Shift is not for everyone, but as more and more cogs are added to the cassette I feel like it is quite beneficial to be able to shift super fast through the range wide range of gears. This is where Grip Shift excels. With a twist of the wrist, you can breeze through as many gears as you need. No question that the SRAM GX Eagle is the best thing you can buy in this price range. Minus one star just because grip selection is insanely limited.

Great shifter for the money. With the 12 speed grip shifter you can dump or grab lots of gears with a twist of the wrist, without loosening a death grip on the bars or giving your thumb a work-out. If you've never tried on, this is a very affordable and excellent experiment.
