The unsung hero of GX Eagle.

The SRAM GX Eagle 12-Speed Chain keeps you shifting with precision across all 12 gears of your Eagle drivetrain without the higher price tag of the XO1 and XX1 chains. Instead of employing the hollow pin construction of its flashier brethren, the GX Eagle 12-Speed Chain uses solid pin construction for the cost-conscious rider who's not overly concerned with counting every last gram. However, you'll find the same Flow Link technology employed on pricier XO1 and XX1 chains, meaning the inner-plates ditch square edges for a chamfered profile that reduces overall friction for better engagement, greater longevity, and less shifting noise of your drivetrain. Best of all, it's designed to work harmoniously with all Eagle 12-speed drivetrains, meaning you can swap it to your X01 and XX1 set-ups as a low-cost replacement.

  • Compatible with Eagle 1x12 drivetrains: GX, XO1, XX1
  • Flow Link lessens drivetrain wear and shifting noise
  • PowerLock closing link for tool-free installation
  • Solid pin construction keeps cost down
  • Chrome treatment improves chain life

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Not the lightest of the SRAM chains but I think it is a very durable chain good for a long riding season.

King of the chain

Very good looking chain-macho, i could almost tell, this will last me for a long time, even if it is not, it is priced decently that i can just buy a spare. The price is right.

    Go GX!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Unless you want to save some grams go GX. Works flawlessly every time. Use the money you save to spend it where it counts - wheels, suspension, coaching or buying friends with post ride snacks!

    EAGLE Won Me Over

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased a new bike which came with a full GX Eagle group. I wasn't sold on the durability of a 12 speed chain considering they've become even more narrow than 11 speed but this thing has really proved me wrong. I put a full season on this chain with zero issues and no measurable/visual wear on components or the chain. Better than NX, cheaper than X0, this is a good go-to option for anyone looking for value and durability on their eagle setup.

    Solid Chain

As the third tier level this chain is still a very smooth and crisp feeling chain. Works well with all levels and simply gets the job done.

      12 Speed Precision

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Save some coin and grab this GX Eagle 12-Speed chain over the weight savings of the X01 and XX1. chains. It provides a smooth and precise shifting at a price to performance ratio that is unmatched!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This chain makes a solid connection for any SRAM Eagle drivetrain. It's a little bit heavier than the top tier chains, but there really is no need to level up. This durable chain communicates your pedaling power just as effectively.

      Great 12 Speed Option

Get all the tech of higher end builds with a modest weight penalty on material. I've had eagle drivetrains on my last few bikes and have had zero issues or complaints.

Best bang for your buck MTB drivetrain

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are looking at upgrading to Eagle and confused about all the different models, let me break it down for you. XX1 Eagle is the top of the line with a hollow pin chain and single piece milled Cromoly cassette. X01 saves about two Benjamins and is functionality the same except for weighing 40g more than the XX1. The GX eagle cuts some corners, using a standard chain design and the cassette is stamped and riveted like a normal cassette instead of milled.
FUNCTIONALLY THE GX EAGLE IS THE SAME AS THE XX1 AND X01. I cannot stress this enough. The only reason to go with the X01 or XX1 over the GX eagle is if you are an super extreme XC rider trying to save every gram or just really like gold and willing to drop and extra grand. With that cleared up, onto the review.
The Sram GX eagle is surprisingly straightforward to install. Sram has a fantastic video that breaks down the installation and adjustment to a 10 minute video. With the proper tools it took me an hour, included the time it took to install the XD driver. But if your bike already has an XD driver, installation is a breeze.
The smoothest shifting I have ever had the pleasure of using. With every gear change the chain seems to lock perfectly into the next chainring, even when downshifting 5 or 6 gears at once. With the narrow wide design being utilized on the jockey wheel as well as front chaining, I have had no issue with the chain slipping or coming off, even after testing it off some intense drops on a hardtail. The clutch keeps the chain very taught and prevents it from slapping around on rocky sections.
Overall the best drivetrain for the dollar right now. The only complaint I have about the GX groupset is I am not a fan of the front chainring mounting design on the new cranks. Save some money and use your old cranks and just purchase the drivetrain. I'll take my old XTR four bolt cranks with a Raceface chainring over the Xsync design anyday.

        Great performance

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Hard to believe the XX1 is better, specially considering the price difference

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Ordered a full Eagle drivetrain this summer and upgraded to the XX1 chain, but this came with the complete set so it is a backup. Hopefully won't have to use it, but good to know it is there.

        Drop no more

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

run this chain on all my bikes and paired with an eagle drivetrain pretty much guarantees no dropped chains.

        Strength > Weight

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A bit heavier than XO1 and XX1, but you get a burlier chain. Functions just as well. Easy choice, in my opinion.

        Go 12 Speeds

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The GX eagle has arrived and this 12 speed chain will keep things running smooth.

        Love GX Eagle

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really love the GX Eagle groupset. It offers good performance, reasonable weight, and good value. This chain is half the price of the XO1 Eagle chain so it's a good replacement option if you are looking to save some money.

        Love it

GX Eagle is amazing. The range is incredible, and the price point is unbeatable. the weight is also very competitive. This is a great option for your next bike build.

          Awesome 12 speed replacement parts!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

GX eagle is honestly a gamechanger. The pricing is hard to beat, and you get the awesome 500% range that made xx1 and xo1 eagle famous for the same weight and less money than competing 1x systems. This chain works great, and is a reasonable price and weight. Shifts smooth when paired with other eagle parts.
