Swiftly power through all 12 gears.
Upon first introduction, Eagle absolutely blew us away with its 500% gear range afforded by its massive cassette, as well as the powerful output of its XO1 and XX1 cranksets to go along with the package. Now that we're accustomed to premium builds kitted out with Eagle, it's refreshing to see SRAM offering the GX Eagle Group for the cost-conscious trail rider. Part of this GX Eagle Group, the SRAM GX Eagle 12-Speed BB30 Direct Mount Crankset powers you through all 12 gears without the lofty price of its XO1 and XX1 counterparts.
Not only does it seamlessly match the budget-friendly GX Eagle Group, but it's also compatible with the higher-end XO1 and XX1 Eagle offerings, should you suffer a nasty crash and need a low-cost replacement to get you back out and riding. Instead of employing fancier carbon construction, the GX Eagle Crankset features 7000-series aluminum arms for an optimal strength-to-weight on the trail. This design shaves approximately 70 grams from the previous GX Crankset for 1x11 drivetrains, showcasing SRAM's commitment to continual design improvements.
The X-Sync 2-tooth chainring maintains chain tension with its variable thickness teeth, meaning you won't have to worry about dropped chains over rough stretches of terrain. Its direct mount interface allows you to quickly and easily swap chainring sizes, if you desire to go the aftermarket route for greater gearing options. This particular version has a 49-millimeter chainline for bikes with traditional axle spacing, as well as 30-millimeter spindle diameter for BB30 bottom brackets.
