Force Crankset

SRAM's Force Crankset has unidirectional carbon fiber arms and spider similar to their top-of-the-line Red crankset. And similarly, a splashy Force flourish and huge SRAM lettering on the inside surface of both arms, make it so that you can see the right side SRAM logo when viewing from the left and vice-versa.

The fluidity of SRAM Force shift quality is a by-product of more than just thoughtful shifter design. Each component of the drivetrain plays an elemental role in providing some of the smoothest, most efficient shifting we've ever felt, and one vital component is the crankset. The PowerGlide chain rings that come standard on the Force crank ensure crisp movement of the chain as you switch rings. The gates and ramps on the teeth make quick work of upshifts and downshifts, and they ensure that the sophisticated technology of the Double Tap shifter isn't wasted on a crankset that can't deliver flawless performance.

The PowerGlide rings are built with SRAM's "TNT" hard-anodized finish. You'll get more mileage from these rings than any other 10-speed set out there, and thanks to the finish, your shifting and pedaling will be quieter than ever before.

The Force is an all-carbon crankset, with carbon arms built on an aluminum spine, along with a carbon spider (and alloy chain ring bolts) to further reduce weight. This full-carbon construction comes in both compact and standard options. And whether your gearing differential between chainrings is 14t or 16t, you'll get flawless shifting -- that's the one detail that distinguishes the compact Force from every other 50/34 crankset we've ever tried. It shifts as flawlessly as a 53/39 -- a rarity when it comes to compact cranks. Best of all, a SRAM compact crankset doesn't require a special compact-specific front derailleur. You use the same Force front derailleur for the 53/39 as you do for the 50/34.

The Force crankset has an integrated bottom bracket spindle to provide you with supreme drivetrain stiffness. It must be used with a GXP bottom bracket. While you might think every external bearing BB is the same, the GXP is a beast of its own. Rather than be loaded axially across the bearing set, the GXP design captures the left-side bearing while the right side floats on the spindle. What you'll get is improved bearing life and a smoother rolling bottom bracket than other designs.

The SRAM Force Crankset is available in three lengths -- 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm and in either a standard 53/39 or compact 50/34.
