Clean lines through the mud.

Cyclocross racing holds a storied history of single chainring lore and whispered advice on the best way to convert a double crankset to a single. For years, this process involved a quest for shorter bolts, much time cloistered in the garage trying to achieve an acceptable chain line, and many a crossed finger that it would work out on race day. SRAM took away all that hassle and brought one-by into the mainstream with the launch of its CX1 groupset last season. This year, SRAM expands its one-by offerings with the new Force 1 groupset, boasting exceptional cyclocross functionality that crosses over equally well to gravel adventures and road base miles. The Force 1 GXP Crankset sits at the center of the group with a perfect chain line and phenomenal, 'cross-friendly chain retention.

The crank arms are fashioned from light, stiff, unidirectional carbon fiber for swift, efficient power transfer and snappy responsiveness. At the center, a forged alloy spider provides a durable-yet-lightweight anchor while the SRAM X-SYNC chainring brings some extra chain retention features to the table to make this crankset really hum.

X-Sync chainrings feature a distinctly tall, squared-off tooth shape that catches the chain earlier in the pedal rotation than standard, triangular teeth, improving chain stability and retention. The teeth's narrow, sharp profiles and rounded chamfer edges also help with chain retention and minimizing chain deflection — qualities that strongly recommend the shape for one-by drivetrains. SRAM also includes recesses that help clear mud to move the chain swiftly through its rotation for smooth power transfer without any catches or muck suck — even in the oft-muddy conditions of 'cross.

The SRAM Force 1 GXP Crankset is available in either a 110mm or 130mm bolt circle diameter, each with several chainring size options that allow riders to maximize the ride experience based on their specific gearing needs.

  • Single-ring carbon cranks for gravel, cross, or road
  • Narrow-wide ring for optimal chain retention
  • Carbon fiber arms offer lightweight efficiency
  • Chainring recesses help shed mud and debris
  • Available in 110mm or 130mm BCD

Unanswered Question

Does this Force 1 GXP Crankset have a removable spider and a 3-BOLT interface?

Unanswered Question

What chain would be compatible with this? SRAM PC XX1?

Smooth power

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The SRAM Force 1 GXP Crankset delivers smooth power. With the one chain ring up front there is less to think about, the tooth design with thick, thin, extra long and square picks up the chain early, very smooth. 52 tooth crank produces enough speed on the flats and when matched with the right cluster can climb any hill.

is this compatible with bb386evo bottom bracket? or Should I buy BB30 bottom bracket in order to work with bb386evo? Thank you

Great 1x Crank

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Got this crank for my gravel bike and it does a great job. The chainrings are a little harder to change due to the hidden bolt behind the crank and you may have to remove the spider. The 1x NW chainring does a great job of keeping the chain on. If you have fitment questions please feel free to reach out.

This crank does in fact have a removable spider?

Does this have a 3 bolt or 8 bolt spider interface?

This is going to have the 3 bolt interface for the spider. You will only see 8 bolt on Quarq Prime cranks which are currently offered as OE spec currently

1x All Day

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

1x is the way to go for cyclocross or gravel bikes hands down. You don't have to hassle with front derailleurs, and you can run an extended range cassette in the rear. It will bring the weight of your bike down. You won't have to worry about mud building up during muddy races on the front derailleur. Less moving parts the better for those muddy days out on the bike.
