CenterLine X Rounded Rotor

The SRAM CenterLine X Rounded Rotor in Centerlock takes the amazingly quiet, smooth, and exceptional cooling capacity of the Centerline and subs in an aluminum carrier to drop grams, further improve cooling, and stiffen the rotor. These particular rotors feature a rounded edge past the braking surface making them safer in mass start events and comply with the UCI's requirements for rotors used in road racing.

The Centerline gets its name from the strategically placed vents on the braking surface that help reduce overheating and reduces noise. Better heat management improves performance and lever feel with repeated braking on long descents. Centerline X Rotors feature the same braking surface as the 1-piece CenterLine, however the addition of the aluminum carrier drops weight and stiffens the rotor to improve performance. Dual materials, with different rates of thermal expansion and contraction, help prevent the rotor from warping under heavy use. SRAM chamfers removes the 90-degree corner off the edge of the rotor making it safer for everyone.

I use these on my Crux gravel bike, 180 front, 160 rear. They are light and work really well. They do make some pinging noises but it doesn't affect performance and they don't go out of true often. Overall they are great for my gravel bike.

Centreline X 140mm v Centreline 2 140mm

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought a couple of the Centreline X 140mm CL rotors from CS because I was curious to learn how they are different compared to the "previous model" Centreline "2" 140mm rotors. All I could find on the internet was that the Centreline X was "lighter" due to use of a newer alloy. Was unable to find official claimed weights for both the new and older model (found one but not the other). They look identical, boxes are identical, box serial numbers slightly different, batch code engraved on the rotors the same. My jewellery scale indicated the old model weighs 103.20g and the "new" model 103.78g - essentially both weigh the same. So I am none the wiser except to think either X and 2 are the same with a different marketing name or I was sold to identical rotors with two different model names. Seems to me I have and weighed either two "X" or two "2" 140mm rotors or "X" and "2" are different names for the same product.
