Description

Super Total Comfort Bib Short

The Sportful Men's Super Total Comfort Bib Shorts offer the best in muscle support, moisture-wicking performance, and padding for long days in the saddle. This premium short forgoes a traditional knit fabric in favor of a stretch woven with 29% Lycra. By doing so, it increases muscle support and moisture-wicking comfort, both of which are crucial when you're touring long distances and besting your previous century ride time. And although this stretch woven fabric is thin, it actually provides increased coverage with 30% less weight than a comparable knit.

Featuring the most padded chamois in Sportful's lineup, this bib short has an integrated Total Comfort Chamois for maximum padding and comfort. This chamois uses continuously variable closed cell urethane foam that ramps up to 18-millimeters at its thickest point, combating saddle soreness and fatigue on the longest rides.

Helping to combat sweat build-up along the lower back, a mesh insert was added for a cool, airy feel when you're pushing your limits. Its flat leg gripper uses a silicone dot pattern to prevent the short from riding up. There's also a radio/media pocket located at the back bib for storing your favorite media player. Other features include 2 to 1 flat woven bib straps for a secure, pinch-free fit, as well as flatlock stitching to reduce irritation and chafing on longer rides. Oh yeah, we forgot to mention that this bib short was crafted in Italy with superior attention to detail.

best bibs for 5 hr rides

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:
    True to size

they took a minute to break in and get used to (the initial sensation is a bulky chamois), but once they do, they are my go-to bib for the longer Z2 endurance days. Really impressed with them. the straps could be a bit more durable tho. they offer a very aggressive fit, so beware, but i'd say they DO fit true-to-size. you just don't want to be hike-a-biking in them all day.

Insanely small with a pad for a hippo

    Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I bought XL, I normally wear L. Based on the XL size I'd probably need xxxxl. The suspenders are 4 inches too short to even considering wearing. I'm 6'4' 170 Ibs. The chamois is huge. Hippo huge. The biggest chmois I've ever seen. It'd go half way down my thigh. Based on other reviews some people like that. For me it'd just cause more chaffing and would be terrible.

Before this recent purchase I've owned ten pairs of the Total Comfort bibs, both Regular and Super. (Remember the orange and black striped pad?) Anyway, XXL always worked for me. I even own a couple XLs for the end of the season. These new XXLs are clearly smaller than the even the XLs of old. My goodness, at 6'2" and a solid 200 pounds am I really a XXXL? Looks like you might need to go up two sizes now. Besides the recent sizing issue, the best all-day bib I've ever worn.

The chamois on these is incredible. My go to for over 50 mi rides. Easily the best over my Assos, Santini, and Castelli. The straps will dig in if your not careful putting them on and spread them out fully since they are a web material. Standing up the straps may seem short but on bike they are comfortable. The alternative is longer straps which means they won't pull the back up and higher chance of chafing. As with Castelli always order a size up.

I read all the reviews and thinking that my measurement from my hip to the ground is 15" longer then hip to head - I thought this was perfect. The straps are tight on me - red marks on my shoulders and the backing they use is very abrasive on my back. Go find other bottoms!!!!!

I'm the same height and weight as you... bought the large and the straps are still too short :(

On the one hand, I really like the chamois in these and the soft-but-compressive nature of the material is really nice. It's a race-ready feel. On the other, the strap material is pretty unyielding and absurdly short. Like, on a recent ride I started experiencing shoulder pain and finally realized it was the straps digging in to my shoulder muscles. Minus the issue with the straps I'd be all for these.

Of the bibs that I have trained and raced in over the years these are truly my favorite. The fabric is very comfortable and supportive with a little bit of compression, and the chamois never lets you realize how far you have actually ridden. The straps were a hair tight the first few rides but they did break in enough for me and ended up being pretty comfortable and supportive over the following rides. They work like a charm for me but some fin them a bit off. If you are looking for another set of quality bibs and something different, look no further

did a 45 mile ride on a 90 to 100 degree weather and they did the job. if i lose atleast 2 or 3 pounds more they would fit even greater. i am 5'10 and 193 pounds, they feel tight and comfortable. i also own giordana exo and fr-c all of them size Xl.

Between Giordana Exo and FR-C, and these, what's your #1? Can you confirm you got these in XL as well?

for me its just an overrated underperforming bib. the straps that everyone gripes about are a tad too firm and too short but not overbearing. Pad-wow lackluster. usually a new pad at least feels good the first time out but not this one. not a premium pad, maybe an entry level pad. fit is good. i'm 6'"1 205 not of typical cycling physique. 3XL fits fine. use the chart. sorry i really wanted these to be awesome but they are not.

These are the most comfortable bibs I have used for long time in the saddle. Better than Rapha, Assos and the other expensive ones for me. Only ding is that the straps twist and bunch up and get uncomfortable. Else, bibs are perfect. Too bad about that one irritating item, as it does get uncomfortable after a while. The chamois and fit else makes up for it however so I use them all the time anyhow.

    What's up with the straps?

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:

These are weird. The material around the legs is not the typical lycra; it almost feels like thin rubber. The pad is extra thick and large--it extends up the front and down the legs more than any other bibs I've used. But the worst part is the straps. The material is uncomfortable, unforgiving, and irritating. They dig into your shoulders, and over a long ride the straps don't really disappear like they do on bibs that fit well. Add to all of this that the bibs run at least one size small...I'm a large usually and the XLs seemed small for the first month until I either lost weight or the bibs stretched. I wouldn't buy these again.

As a skinny arsed old dude, I can't say I have ever found the perfect shorts. No matter what I wear some days I'm getting a bit squeezed by the end of a 25-30 mile ride on mixed road surfaces. The best shorts, such as the long distance version of Assos, or the FR Giordana, have been the closest to letting me ride pain free. In recent years I've taken to adding a thin padded undershort such as the Pearl Izumi version. When I saw the name of these shorts, you can imagine I was game to try them. I think its sufficient to say, they are as good or better than the others mentioned, time will tell. Fit wise, they tend to run a tad smaller (more compressive?) than the Giordana, and are as tight as I would like to experience in a "L" (I'm 6 foot 165 lbs.), even around my skinny legs, so be advised on that count, if you tend to look like Spartacus.

I wore these super comfort bibs once after receiving them from B.C. . They are light for summer and compress your muscles just enough but from me sweating in the summer heat I noticed the lower part of the bibs bleed through with salt staining from your body. it gave me the impression of being cheap as I never experienced this with my Gore Bike Wear bibs. it did however wash out so I was very happy for that. The padded chamois was grat as I did a 40 mile group event ride and didn't experience any discomfort.

    solid but unforgiving straps

The bib is great on hot days. If I could split this rating into two parts I would. I think the chamois and overall fit around the legs are 5-star good, but the straps are rigid. For many people I wouldn't expect this to be a problem, but at 6'3" whenever I stand-up upright it feels like someone is softly pushing down on my shoulders. Though not ideal off the bike, I don't notice this issue at all when in the saddle. Also the mesh straps take an extra second or two to flatten out. I haven't had any issues with them bunching up or twisting once initially sorted.

I'm 5'4" and about 120lb what size would be good for me and what would the inseam be in that size.

This may or may not be helpful to you...I'm 5'8.5", 32.5" waist, 160lbs. I wear size large in these bibs and they're close to perfect. Inseam length is approximately 10", about 1" above my knee standing, bit shorter on the bike. One of my favorite bibs.

You should be fine with S

I seem to keep reaching for these bibs as my first choice. They fit me just right - they have the perfect amount of padding, compression, leg length and strap width/comfort. I like that they aren't a "shiny" lycra - more of a dull finish to the fabric and they seem to be wearing really well.
