Minimal size, maximum power.

Speedplay's designers originally engineered the Zero Pavé Titanium pedals with Walkable Cleats to be the ideal go-to for their pro teams, with a design that set out to shave weight, improve aerodynamics, and above all, provide a secure platform for transferring maximum power to cranks with true minimalist design. The Zero Pavé pedals shave off all non-essential material, which creates a not-so traditional profile that’s open design claims to assists in entry and release in muddy and wet situations that may cause other pedals to jam up, and given their acceptance on the cobbled classics, we'd be inclined to agree. These mighty, but minuscule pedals prove themselves from Flanders to the Roubaix and Giro, powering up pavé and tedious gravel roads alike.

Speedplay pedals earn their reputation for exceptional performance a number of ways. One of our favorites is their locking mechanism, which foregoes the standard spring tension to secure you into place, and opts instead for a true locking mechanism that is easy to clip into on either side of the pedal, and prevents accidental clip-outs. The Zero Pavé Titanium pedals allow between zero and 15-degrees of float that you can fine tune to the ideal degree for you, and furthermore, the foot-axis adjustments can be set independently of one another, meaning that either the fore-aft, side to side, or rotational adjustments can be made without affecting the position of your foot among the other two options. The Titanium version of the Zero Pavé provide shaves height on your stack, drops weight, and features a shorter spindle for more direct power, and less material, weighing in at only 94-grams a piece, 21-grams lighter per pedal than their steel counterparts. They feature three cartridge needle bearings, which allow for a thinner stack height and superior cornering clearance, allowing you to go for the breakaway through corners that have the other riders coasting.

As with other Speedplay pedals, the Zero Pavé Titanium engage into the cleat with metal-to-metal contact, as opposed to the plastic we see on many other pedals, which Speedplay claims to ensure a more secure hold, with extended durability over its competitors. This particular model comes along with walkable cleats that feature a grippy, rubberized tread to improve off-bike functionality, and prevent wear on the cleats. Speedplay's walkable cleats are designed to improve aerodynamics, with a contoured shape and dimpled surface that glides through the air. The cleats are compatible with a 3-bolt or 4-bolt road shoe, though with a 3-bolt shoe they will sit with a slightly higher stack, as they require the use of an included plate between your shoe and cleat.
