From cobbles to concrete.

The debris-clearing, reliable action of Speedplay's Zero Aero Pave pedal system has been proven in wins at both Flanders and Roubaix — in short, the pedals are virtually invincible. Once you're out of the saddle, though, the general slipperiness of road cleats turns that sure-footed platform into ice skates. Speedplay's Zero Aero Pave Walkable Cleats address this issue with a rubberized, high-grip housing that keeps you glued to the stained concrete of café floors with the same confidence with which your under-inflated, 28mm tires handle the stones. The bodies are finished with the same aerodynamic dimpling pattern we see on deep carbon rims, which helps to improve your chances of maintaining a gap by reducing drag.

Shorter life than the prior non-walkable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Cleat works, but the two pairs I have used lasted less than 3,000 miles. I get over 5,000 miles on the prior version of the cleat when used the the Kozy Kovers (which provide the walk-ability). As a cyclist who rides over 6,000 miles a year, please bring back the less expensive more durable speedplay zero cleat.

Similar to regular?

Why are these ten dollars more? Are they more durable on the rubber or the same.

These are $10 more because they include the protector shim. In my opinion and experience the protector shim is necessary.

I have been on Speedplay for the last 3 seasons and was extremely excited when they launched their walk-able version of the existing cleat. These do exactly the same thing as the original cleats and the walkables as well (they just include the carbon fiber protector plate) but at these prices I can literally order a brand new set of Ultegra pedals (which include cleats) every 5-6k and be at very close to the same price as just these cleats. I had to purchase these because my old set broke and I needed a pair from my LBS (and these were the only option) again as stated before these are excellent for protecting the hardware from grinding down and function just as well as the $40 cleats that preceded them (they will cause you to crash if you clip them even slightly because the rubber catches the ground vs. sliding) but at these prices I'm done with Speedplay ($140 a year just in cleats); I don't need 15 degrees of float and primarily road race so dual sided entry is less important to me than during my crit racing days.

David why you complaining .. you know soeedplay have way better adjustability than anything else. For me I really need a wider Q factor or stance and with 9mm spindles I’m well off. See ya on the road bro.

lovely update to already great cleats

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i used to put a layer of shoe goo on my speedplay cleats once they were set in order to make walking easier and to protect the screw heads from wear. this is so much easier. quite pleased

    Another Great Product

These new cleats are easy to use and walk in. A great improvement from the standard cleat.
