Description

The Frog Chrome-Moly is built on a Chrome-Moly steel spindle to make it the most affordable option in the Speedplay Frog Family. It's not just a great off-road pedal system, Speedplay Frog pedals are ideal for road riders who prefer a recessed, walkable cleat. Like their amphibious namesake, Frog pedals are equally at home in dry or muddy terrain. Their unique cleats are virtually immune to clogging with mud or dirt, because debris is pushed out whenever you engage the pedal. This simple mechanism also puts an end to those infuriating falls caused by gunked-up pedals that won't release. You get out when you want to, and never when you don't. Of course, you also get all the advantages of Speedplay's other innovative designs: knee-friendly, non-centering free float; lightning-fast entry and exit; and phenomenal light weight. Whether you ride a mountain bike, road bike, tandem or 'cross bike, the Speedplay Frog can do it all.

Comes standard with a set of G3 Frog cleats and mounting hardware. It's strong, durable, easier to mount and compatible with virtually all two-hole style shoes in the marketplace.

Please Note: Due to manufacturer restrictions, we are unable to ship Speedplay products outside the United States.

Proven

I was first introduced to Frogs about 30 years ago. Loved them then and love them now on my current bike. The design hasn’t changed except for the addition of the latch shim. Brilliant addition to the design! Over 400 miles on this set... zero issues. One review mentioned poor packaging - on that, I agree. It was like a repacked return but worked as it should when reassembled.

    Packaged badly

I haven't used these pedals yet. I already have a set and really like them and got this set to put on a different bike. My problem is that when I opened the shipping box, there was a deflated plastic bag, too small to be effective anyway, and the product box had opened all the parts were loose in the shipping box. It is bad to pick up a box and hear all that jangling. Despite that, all the parts were present except I only got 3 out of 4 cleat screws which are in a pouch so someone just forgot to put 4 in, maybe. If I get the last cleat screw, I may be willing to amend this review.

Amending this review. I got a packet of 4 screws from Speedplay pretty quickly once I called them. Had to go to them directly. Still love the pedals. The freedom of movement is a knee saver for me. The one review with cleat movement and hitting the chain, there is a stopping point... just have to set the cleat at the right angle.

      As Advertised

These are easy to install, but ignore the torque specs in the instructions unless you have carbon soled shoes. Following the torque specs the cleats moved after my first two rides. I then wrenched them down; 50+ miles later no movement.

Update: 200 miles later the right cleat is a source of constant irritation. No amount of torque on the cleat keeps it from twisting. It's not loose. You can't move the cleat by hand but now it moved after a 63 mile mixed surface ride. It has too much inside float making it easy for my heel to hit the chain stay.

      Awesome pedals

Love the float. Easy to get in and out of. I also have the stainless steel axle version on my mountain bike, and would suggest the chromoly axle version. Similar weight, same performance, save a few bucks

      Almost therapeutic

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So, after about 17 years of riding fixed gear on SPDs, my right knee began to ache. Frogs to the rescue. I've now ridden several hundred miles on these pedals--single, fixed, and road bike.

      Easy out!

I've been using frogs for almost two years and they work great. These pedals are sturdy, light and work exactly as described especially when trying to dismount!. The maintenance may scare some but it's really simple and I have friend that has the same pedals for at least 10yrs all with proper maintenance greasing the pedals when needed!.
