In order to do routine maintenance on the internals of your Speedplay road pedals you need to remove its dust cap. If you remove & reinstall your dust caps enough times, you'll probably want to replace them in order to ensure that they'll stay firmly in place as you ride.

Works with older X2 Series Pedals

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My older X2 Series pedals did not have the access port for greasing. I replaced my original style dust caps with the new style and they were a perfect fit. Makes greasing your Speedplay pedals so much easier!!

Plugging up tiny bicycle hole

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I lost the original plug when I greased the pedals. I applied too much pressure on the screw when I attempted to replace the original plug and it fell out. I replaced the plug with another one and that one fell out, too because when I applied the extra pressure to the plug I created a little crevice on the side of the plug and the screw was not taut enough to hold the plug. I added a third plug and this time I used a little clear caulking gel, just a little (!), to hold the plug into place. Several rides later and the bicycle plug pedal is still in place!
