Speedplay Nanogram cleats are lighter and wear quicker than their standard Zero road cleats. So if you've already got the cleats and want to replace them with something equally svelte, or want to shave some weight off your Speedplay Zero cleat/pedal combo without splurging on Nanogram pedals, this is the cleat set for you.
These are light cleats. They weigh 44.25g (88g per pair) if you use the setup for three-hole base plate mounting (what most shoes have), a mere 27.5g (55g per pair) if you use the four-hole mounting—for some Time shoes and Speedplay specific DMT shoes. As a point of comparison, a pair of standard Zero cleats weigh in at 118g for three-hole mounting, with this upgrade you will save 30g.
As with all Speedplay cleats these come with one snap-shim per pedal, two three-bolt baseplates, two four-bolt spring kits, and an alloy exterior plate that helps to protect the cleat while walking. For this cleat, the base plate is carbon fiber. The cleats also come with a steel set of screws for aligning and adjusting the cleats and a set of aluminum screws for permanent mounting. The aluminum screws are one-time use only, so you screw 'em in and that's that. When you loosen them, for any reason, it's time to toss them in the recycling. Claimed weight on the Speedplay Nanogram road cleat is 88g per pair.
