Not the same as previous models

I've put about 30-40 hours of riding on these shoes which replaced a similar pair of 2 year old Specialized shoes with essentially the same design. These are inconsistent in the left vs. right foot where the left seems fine but the right is terrible. It doesn't seem to matter how I adjust the boa or toe straps and my cleats are spot on. The toe section is very narrow while the heal is loose. I'm constantly adjusting due to numbness, hot spots, or too loose. I would not buy them again.

Terrible Tounge

mmmph...I really wanted to like these, but they are just not good. I use a size 49 and run these with Speedplay Zero pedals. Initially, I was impressed with the lightweight and stiffness. Rather quickly, I ran into problems getting the tounge in the right position and the Boa adjusted just so to make it comfortable and stable. But the way the Boas are cinching on this shoe makes it nearly impossible. The tounge is also cut in such a way that it rubs on the top part of your ankle. There is some padding on part of the "upper" in that area (near the Boa), but eventually, this wears out and it then continues to wear through and cut the tongue so the only thing left is your sock. Really, super poor design. Initially, after 2 - 3 rides, I was able to get things comfortable, so I just stuck with it. After a few hundred kms, it was noticeable that the wear was occuring and sometimes if I wasn't careful, it would wear a blister in my ankle area near the tongue. Eventually, after about 1500kms, I was having to add a couple of days in between rides to let the soreness go down and by the time I was searching for new shoes (2000km of use), I was having to skip road riding all together and just go on the MTB or gravel, as these shoes would rub a hole in my skin rather quickly. Finally got some different shoes and am much happier. Sorry Spec! I used earlier versions of your shoes for years, but you got this on wrong. Both tongues were worn through - fully spilt - after half a season.

I'm not a racer, just a rider
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I have to admit I like the tightening system. I fuss a little with the tongue while tightening, and it provides uniform hold across the whole foot. It's much less fussy than the multi strap and velcro. My feet are fussy, just ask anyone who's tried to fit me for a ski boot. I cinch once, and then I'm good for a 50 mile ride. When I bought my last bike (used) it was an upgrade, and I just figured I couldn't be seen in toe clips. The bike would die of embarrassment. So, I went to the LBS and they tried my feet in several shoes. Most felt like torture devices. They ordered the brand new Torch 2, and I was on the road. My only problem with the tongue is that it needs to be wiggled before and during tightening to make sure it doesn't develop a wrinkle which demands attention.

Could not get comfortable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Weight:
- null
I have been using the 1.0's for years now and I can barely tell I have anything on my feet. I tried these a couple times and kept getting persistent hotspots and regardless of sock choice, the top of the shoe near the BOA kept digging into my ankle. They do look great, but I was unable to ride more then 20 minutes without pain or rubbing.
