S-Works Prevail II + ANGi MIPS Helmet
The S-Works Prevail II Helmet takes the renowned comfort and ventilation of the original S-Works Prevail to new heights by giving it a host of new safety features, along with a sleeker, low-profile shape. The new helmet not only looks better, but feels better, too—the Prevail II sits lower on the head for superior fit and comfort. Low weight and airy ventilation remain top priorities with this high-level road lid, certainly more so than aerodynamics.
Like Specialized's other high-end helmets, the Prevail II is equipped with the ANGi crash sensor. Simply pair the sensor with your phone at the start of your ride and it will detect any crash, then send a text message to your emergency contacts if you fail to dismiss a timed alert indicating you are okay. ANGi also syncs with the Specialized Ride App and STRAVA to provide GPS-based activity tracking as an added bonus.
For the S-Works Prevail II, Specialized partnered with MIPS researchers directly to create an all-new version of the MIPS protection system called MIPS SL. The design uses watchband-style attachments between the padding and the shell that provide 10-15 millimeters of rotation in every direction. This gives you the same level of protection as other versions of MIPS, but in a lighter, more comfortable, and better-integrated package.
- A lightweight, low-profile, well-ventilated road helmet
- Ventilation ports are aligned front-to-rear for maximum airflow
- ANGi sensor alerts emergency contacts in the event of a crash
- MIPS SL is lighter and more comfortable than standard MIPS
- Multi-density EPS with reinforced skeleton to absorb impacts
- Gutter Action brow pad channels sweat away from eyes
- Tri-Fix web splitter for greater comfort and ease of adjustment
- Micro-adjustable fit system for dialing in the perfect fit

This helmet is excellent, its really light weight, even an XL size is much lighter than my previous specialized helmet. ANGI is a nice perk but not a "must have" in my opinion since my Garmin head unit also has crash detection. I'm not a huge fan of the way the straps anchor into the body of the helmet - they are somewhat "outboard" of your head, maybe by a half inch or more at the front, so when trying to wear sunglasses in combination with the helmet it pinches the straps a long way in against your head, meaning the chin buckle needs to be adjusted longer than what it really should be without sunglasses. I also feel like the sunglasses tend to get caught up in the straps more because of this. I'll definitely get used to it but it was annoying to sort out on the first couple rides.

Have the last model of the Prevail and during travel, the plastic fastener/retention snapped. They stated since the new version(prevail 2) is out there are no replacement parts made and they were unwilling to repair or do anything beyond give 15% off a new retail priced helmet. Giving 2 stars(vs 1) as it is a good helmet but just wanted to give people a heads up about customer support of specialized(backcountry is great, this was only referring to specialized). This is too expensive of a helmet to spring for if it will not be backed by customer service, simple replacement parts, and support beyond a year or two of use!

Awesome helmet, weird sizing

I have a long narrow head. It makes finding a helmet a pain. Your options are generally Lazer, which work but are a little too wide, or Kask, which doesn't make MIPS helmets. Enter the Prevail II. The large was way too big, even though I wear a large in every other brand. Medium was perfect. Just enough room to throw a cap on under, but not so much space that it looks huge and bulky. Chin strap doesn't adjust fore-aft, which may be a problem for some, but works for me. Stellar ventilation even at low speeds. Bonus style points for good stowage vents for your sunnies.

Excellent for a deep oval head
- Familiarity:

I've got a fairly large, long ovalish noggin and the Prevail II was recommended as a helmet that would work well for my head shape. The oval profile was excellent, but the helmet is very "deep" and it actually hit my ears, so I returned it. It seemed very light and well ventilated though.

This is a beautiful helmet with great ventilation. It sits low on the head, is lightweight and looks great. It’s quiet in the wind as an added plus. Where it falls down, however, and it’s a big one, is in the design of the retention system. Perhaps as making the helmet so light, the retention system is very thin and flimsy. Mine has now broken twice. Specialized replaced it once, but the second replacement was $20+ and the helmet flops all over without it. At this price point, it should be designed better. I’m going back to Giro, purchased from Competitive Cyclist for their great service, for a better product.

Prevail II is light enough to be super comfortable. The custom developed MIPS system is plush without adding excess weight. I also removed the ANGi "thingy" as I already have the crash detection and notification system on my Garmin 530. Easy to do, only 2 small Phillips screws. I have M size and it fits like a glove on my head, very, very comfortable. My head is on the bigger side of the M-range, 58.25mm or 22" 7/8' in imperial. The only con is the price. I wish Specialized got rid of the ANGi and sold it cheaper.
