Why We Like The S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe

The S-Works 7 series includes the most advanced cycling gear from Specialized, and the S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe strives for perfect road performance without compromising comfort. Made of ply-by-ply carbon originally developed for racing, Powerline is the stiffest, lightest sole from Specialized, and it's fine-tuned for transferring all the power you push down on those pedals with. The upper is made out of Dyneema Mesh sandwiched between layers of four-way stretch and TPU for flex in key areas and a custom fit.

Sent back because of fit

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
44.5
Height:

Weight:

They were long enough but not quite wide enough in a standard size. I have wide metatarsals but a narrow heel. The outside of the left shoe was too high and would rub on the bottom of my ankle bone. I noticed the side is just the leather (?) edge whereas my three other brands of shoes have some softer cushion that runs around the opening preventing this. I like that the S-works have a rounder toe area with some room up front and boy are they light.

Great Shoe, But a But Too Narrow

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
47
Height:

Weight:

Quality shoe, solid construction, but as my feet get older (late-40's) they are less tolerant to cramming into my various lifelong pairs of Sidis. These are similar in width unfortunately, and much as I wanted to keep them, I ended up with the Lake CX238's instead (normal, not wide) - which are not quite as sexy, but much more comfortable. For context on the MTB side, I also love the Giro Rincons: wider than normal but not swimming in space.

Runs Small

38

Although many reviews say they run true to size as well as the sizing chart, they run small. I wear a 6.5 or 7 in a shoe and a 38 was too small.

Lordy, I wanted to love these shoes

I finally wore out a pair of Specialized Body Geometry S-Works road shoes (circa 2011). They fit my feet like a glove from day one -- stated size 48 EU/13.75 USA. I wear a size 13 street shoe. I got a pair of size 48 Specialized Area through my LBS and rode them about 500 miles but had to admit to myself that they are too large. My bad -- they're mine now. Specialized is quite clear that street shoe size 13 is now a 47 EU in their road shoe so I guess they changed the US sizing along the way. Unfortunately, the LBS's around here are faced with COVID supply issues (see if you can find a 11-speed Shimano chain!). So I ordered the Specialized S-Works 7 through CC, in a size 47. Beautiful shoe. Length is just right BUT they are just too narrow for my otherwise normal foot (I ain't no EEE). I've got to return them after wearing them indoors while seated on my sofa. I'm going to visit with the good folks at CC to see if they have a recommendation. They're currently Out-of-Stock on the 48 Wides.

Runs a little narrow

I wear a 45 with a normal width. These shoes run a little narrow and I had to return them. Nice shoes otherwise. Too bad they carry half sizes in white. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

True to size and fits like a glove

Size Bought:
42
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
131

I purchased the white, size 42 normal. I wear a size 8.5 in shoes and always get a 42 which equivalent to size 9. I have narrow feet and mid to low arch. Specialized know how to make shoes fit like a glove. I've owned S Works 5 and Sub 6, they all fit the same "perfect". Not too many shoes out there that are all white so had to get these. Positives: great fit and room for my toes to wiggle around. Boa dials are great, very stylish. You can put these shoes on and don't have to really tighten the boas because the fit around the foot just envelopes your foot. Negatives: There is a little too much material on the retention side and this rubs the top of my foot but the discomfort goes away. Only really a problem if you ankle down on your pedal stroke.
