S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe
The S-Works 7 series includes the most advanced cycling gear from Specialized, and the Men's S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe strives for perfect road performance without compromising comfort. Made of ply-by-ply carbon originally developed for racing, Powerline is the stiffest, lightest sole from Specialized, and it's fine-tuned for transferring all the power you push down on those pedals with. The upper is made out of Dyneema Mesh trapped between layers of four-way stretch and TPU for malleability in key areas and a formed fit. To provide better connectivity and overall comfort, there's extra room in the toebox, while the PadLock heel counter locks your foot in place for a slip-proof feel.
To align your hip, knee, and foot for a boost in power, Specialized employs scientifically tested Body Geometry. The footbed reduces hot spots by putting less pressure on nerves and arteries. A wedge underneath the footbed offers greater arch support, too. And for a little fashion with your function, Specialized added its custom S3 Boa dials; their CNC'd alloy dials add panache, precise micro-adjustments, and long-lasting durability. The titanium alloy cleat nuts rotate to position pedals and cleats with 5mm rearward.
- Road cycling shoe Specialized for perfection
- Powerline carbon is the lightest, stiffest sole from Specialized
- Dyneema mesh upper with PadLock heel counter for slip-proof comfort
- Body Geometry gives arch support and hot spot elimination
- Boa Dials customized with CNC'd alloy for long-lasting durability

I wear a 45 with a normal width. These shoes run a little narrow and I had to return them. Nice shoes otherwise. Too bad they carry half sizes in white. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I purchased the white, size 42 normal. I wear a size 8.5 in shoes and always get a 42 which equivalent to size 9. I have narrow feet and mid to low arch. Specialized know how to make shoes fit like a glove. I've owned S Works 5 and Sub 6, they all fit the same "perfect". Not too many shoes out there that are all white so had to get these. Positives: great fit and room for my toes to wiggle around. Boa dials are great, very stylish. You can put these shoes on and don't have to really tighten the boas because the fit around the foot just envelopes your foot. Negatives: There is a little too much material on the retention side and this rubs the top of my foot but the discomfort goes away. Only really a problem if you ankle down on your pedal stroke.

I have returned so many shoes, glad to finally keep a pair. I am a size 14 on my right foot and 13.5 wide on my left. I go for a size 49 on specialized shoes and they do not disappoint. Some have complained about numbness or the shoes being too tight and I have no issues with the shoe fit. Any toe numbness I have encountered was resolved by changing the cleat position and using the specialized medium arch insoles. I think anyone that is having a fit issue with these shoes likely bought the wrong size.

The shoe is lightweight and very firm but narrow. Also, being a universal shoe it did not fit a women’s foot well. The heel was deep causing the ankles to rub (tried heel lifts which helped but then caused the tongue to dig into the front of the ankle). Also, being narrow and stiff is uncomfortable to one with wide feet resulting in numbness and cramping. Hoping to look at Bont. Competitive was very understanding and permitted me to return the shoes for a store credit after a one-time use.

i have had these for 6 months now and when I first wore them they were horrible. Super snug almost painful to wear. I tried every different insole with these and almost sold them. As with anything especially cycling shoes certain feet do not work these. S Works 7 is the only non neutral shoe on the market. With 1.5 varus wedge built in the front it is hard to get used to the raised toe. I ended up putting a custom orthotic in which actually stretched out the shoe a bit.(and they said these do not stretch with the dyneema). I am here to tell you different. They do. The shoe actually works out now as the orthotic created a lot of room all over. If i had to buy again I would pass and look for a shoe comfortable enough on the first ride.

The Benchmark

If you want to spend $400+ on a pair of cycling shoes, you're spoiled for choice. Sidi, Shimano, Lake, Bont, Fizik, Bontrager, Giro, and countless others all make great shoes. Zeroing in on the right pair is tricky, and even though it's a good problem, it's still a problem. I do my best to review shoes on their objective merits. I can't guarantee that the S-Works, or any other shoe will play nicely with your feet. That being said, personal comfort aside, I think that these are the shoe to beat. I'd argue that based on 4 points. 1. These are as-stiff or stiffer than any shoe I've ever ridden (RC9, Shot, Empire, 402). 2. The Specialized-specific boas are hands-down better than anything else I've ever used. 3. The dyneema upper is killer. 4. The footbed can be adapted to fit your foot perfectly. I should specify that while I think these beat out Shimano's old S-Phyre (my historical favorite,) I haven't had a chance to ride the new 902s. That said, I can't imagine them being better than the S-Works. I really do believe that these are the shoes to beat today.

I just tried the 902... super super disappointed. Shimano already had screwed up sizing, and they made a very half-ass attempt to reconcile. A 48 is still labeled as 12.4US, but it fits much more like a 13+, decided to then order a 47 to see... labeled as an 11.8US and fits more like a 12.4ish - I'm generally a 46.5 or a 47, and the RC901 I tried a 48 and it fit well - but decided to wait for the 902 and they botched it.

I've put about 2k miles on these shoes, and I love them. When I first tried them on, I had some pain on the top of my foot with the top closure, but once I figured out the right adjustments, they broke in nicely, and the power transfer is amazing. I will probably buy another pair in a different color.

Initially I had isolated foot pain on the top of the shoe. I think its where the boa attaches to the top of the shoe, the material is very inflexible and digs in. A year in and its getting better but wish I had gone with Shimano's, I like the design of the overlapping closure on the top. Other than that they are great shoes.

I've got about a dozen rides with the new shoes and I love them. They are really light and comfortable on my feet. A big step up from my old shoes. I felt like I was floating on the first ride.

I've worn this shoe for just over a week and wore them yesterday while riding a 104 mile ride in a downpour. NO ISSUES what so ever! I wear a 13 1/2 or a 48 and the shoe fits perfectly. I replaced an older pair of S Works shoes and these are also OUTSTANDING! Keep up the great work SPECIALIZED!

These shoes are pretty fantastic. Like all shoes, they might fit some people better than others. The material that they use is super easy to clean off so even after a full season of riding they look pretty good. I ended up getting S-Works Recons as well after riding these because I liked how well they fit. For reference, I wear a 43 in shimano, 42 in giro and got a 42 in these.

not a good fit at all

lot of hype behind these shoes you get what you pay for right? NOPE! very narrow toe box and my toes went numb. Boas in my opinion are placed in the wrong areas or its just the overall design of the shoe that makes this a horrible fit in general. Like i said boas apply pressure in sensitve areas due to the design of the shoe.. What is the point of making a top of the line 500.00 plus shoe where first you cant put performance down and two no comfort at all. You can get some mid range shoes for half as less that will more competitive than this.

Maybe you should have bought a larger size and i don't know why you paid $500 when the shoes are $400. You know you can return the shoes.

Maybe you picked the wrong shoes? Specialized S-Works 7 got 3 different fits, Regular, Wide, and Narrow. If you need a wider fit, you should have chosen a Wide fit.
