Description

Power Expert Saddle With MIMIC

The Power Expert Saddle With MIMIC makes a solid choice for women riders looking to move past their basic saddle and on to something that's comfortable and lightweight, yet won't break the bank. It delivers the type of cushioning and support we’ve been asking for for years, with light-yet-supportive titanium rails that are ready to carry us however far we dream of exploring.

Now lets discuss comfort. The cut-out saddle isn't for everyone, and for us ladies—some of whom have been riding in silent discomfort for years—it's the opposite of what we want. Enter MIMIC technology, which uses decades of Body Geometry knowledge and methodology in order to create comfort women cyclists can finally enjoy. MIMIC's multi-layer cushioning system is molded into the saddle, and designed to imitate the body's response to differing types of pressure. This creates equilibrium in soft tissues, stopping numbness and discomfort before it cuts our ride short.

  • A comfortable, durable saddle designed specifically for women
  • Body Geometry design is lab-tested to ensure proper blood flow
  • MIMIC uses 5 layers of foam to minimize soft tissue swelling
  • Lightweight, hollow titanium rails deliver durable support
  • Level II padding built with medium density foam
  • SWAT-compatible mounts are molded in to add storage options
  • Differing widths accommodate your sitz bones personally

OK, I had to edit my previous review. This saddle is almost perfect, with one fatal flaw for ladies: The central cutout isn't long enough. Near the nose of the saddle, the super soft mimic cutout ends abruptly and there is a hard bump near the front. When I'm not wearing chamois, the fit is perfect. However, with the added padding of a chamois, I ended up putting more weight on my pubic bone than my sitting bones. My sitting bones felt amazing for having the pressure relieved, but my pubic bone got beat up and it made peeing uncomfortable for a few hours. I don't think you can buy a chamois that only pads your seat bones, but that's what this saddle would require. The MIMICK technology is such a great idea, I just wish it went the full length of the saddle. Why the hard nose??

Really happy with this saddle. Now I can ride enjoyably for longer. I have the sworks version on my road bike and this one on my mtb. They are the same, except in weight. :)

Mimic can be for men

My sitbone size: 113 Saddle size: 143 mm As soon as I saw that Competitive Cyclist carried Specialized, this saddle went to the top of my short list of ones I wanted to try. Having done a bit of research I learned that the MIMIC technology, although designed for women, can be used for men in order to alleviate pressure in the groin area. The MIMIC technology allows the pressure points on your sit bones to balance across the entire area of where you’re sitting rather than just on your sitbones. As someone who frequently rides for more than 5 or 6 hours at a time, I found that this saddle did exactly what it was meant to do. For me, it did a much better job than the regular Specialized Power saddle (without Mimic) at relieving pressure points, which allowed me to ride longer and more comfortably. Aside from the Mimic technology, I really found a favorite in the power saddle. Personally I found that once I set up the saddle correctly, the shape of the saddle actually allowed me to pedal more strongly than with other saddles I’ve used in the past. It is worth noting that because the saddle is shorter than others it will require a different setup on the fore and aft positions than other saddles might. It’s also worth noting that this saddle is going to be more aggressive than other saddles in both the cutout and support. When Specialized created this saddle they meant it to be for power. That being said, due to the shorter nose, there is less room to move forward and backward on the saddle, so if that's something you're looking to have on longer rides, you may want to consider something like the Romin saddle. If you’ve tried this saddle and have found that it doesn’t fit well for you, I would personally recommend trying the Power Arc saddle as it has a slightly different curve but the same intended design. Overall this is a great saddle to start with if you're looking for a new saddle for road, gravel, cyclocross or mountain. It's a saddle that does really well across all disciplines.

I bought this for my hybrid bike. I tend to do long rides on the weekends (30+ miles) and was looking for something to give more comfort in the saddle versus the stock saddle that came with my bike. To break it in, I planned a 12 mile ride and barely made it 6 miles. I felt like my sit bones were grinding into concrete with each push of the pedal. I couldn’t wait to get off of my bike! My sit bones hurt for 3 days after that before I could ride again.
