Why We Like The Specialized Epic Evo XT Exclusive Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
Maintaining the efficiency of its sibling, the Epic, while ramping up its capability, the Epic Evo is a weapon for aggressive cross-country riding. The Epic Evo sports 110mm of FSR suspension and is designed to be equipped with a 120mm fork, boosting the travel in the front by 20mm and the rear by 10mm over the more race-focused Epic for more capability all over the mountain. Compared to the Epic, the Epic Evo has longer and slacker geometry across the board to better accommodate aggressive riding. The 66.5-degree head tube angle gives us more confidence on steeper trails, and the flip chip on the rear shock slackens out the bottom bracket height and head tube angle even further for big days. The Epic Evo is finished off with two water bottle mounts in the front triangle, integrated frame protection, SRAM's UDH, and internal cable routing.
The Shimano XT Exclusive Carbon Wheel build of the Specialized Epic Evo was hand-picked by our Gearhead® Experts and sports a reliable 12-speed drivetrain, and upgraded carbon fiber rims. The FACT 11m carbon fiber frame is made with premium carbon fiber to ensure a durable, lightweight, and stiff frame. Shimano's XT drivetrain is known for being precise and equips us with a huge gear range for getting up any technical climb. Four heavy-duty stopping power, we fitted this build with Shimano XT 4-piston brakes to give us all the stopping power we need, while the Specialized Control and Fast Trak tires ensure low rolling resistance and grip all over the mountain. This build is equipped with a RockShox SID Ultimate Race Day, 3-position, 120mm fork for a race-worthy suspension performance, giving us a highly-tunable fork with a 3-position lockout for efficiency when climbing. The RockShox Super Deluxe+ easily handles big hits as we pound down the singletrack and comes with tons of tuning adjustments to get it just right. Lastly, upgraded Reynolds TR249 carbon fiber rims and TR3 hubs equip us with top-tier handling and trail performance.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
