SombrioHighline Short - Men's
Item # SOM002I
Goes the distance, and then some.
Much like modern trail-taming bikes, technical riding apparel allows us to ride harder, faster, and farther than ever. Taking this philosophy close to heart, the Sombrio Men's Highline Short helps you push the limits of what's physically possible on the trail. Its ultra-light Quattro Flex Lite fabric won't weight you down when you're hammering up steep logging roads and bombing twisty switchbacks on the way back down. Shedding light moisture and trail debris, the short's DWR finish keeps 'em nice and dry, should you encounter a passing shower or brush against dewy vegetation.
Forgoing seams along the crotch panel, this short alleviates irritation and chafing, as there are no seams to rub against the seat. Sturdy seam construction with bar-tack stitching throughout high-stress areas prevents premature wear and blowouts from riding hard. Laser-cut ventilation along the lumbar zone and thighs channels cool(er) outside air over your thighs for enhanced temperature regulation on hot summer days. Sombrio's waistband retention system and adjustable hook-and-loop waist tabs ensure a secure, stay-put fit when you're launching off small drops and cleaning tight switchbacks. Additionally, two zippered front pockets, one of which has a key loop for securing your car keys, hold your trail snacks and accessories in secure fashion.
- Shorts built to push the limits of possible
- Ultra-light Quattro Flex Lite doesn't weigh you down
- DWR treatment sheds rain, or mud when things get rowdy
- Strategically placed seams reduce chaffing and irritation
- Laser-cut lumbar vents let fresh air in, keep you cool
- Hook-and-loop wait dials in your fit without a belt
- Zippered pockets keep your essentials secure

Fit is way off
- Familiarity:

- Fit:
- Runs large

- medium

I really wanted to like this short, but it just had size/fit issues. The crotch hangs down a good 3" when the short is at your natural waist and causes resistance to lifting your legs in a pedaling motion. The waist is very large for the size (I had to cinch the waist adjusters all the way down and normally wear a 32" jean), and it still felt like it was working its way down . Pockets and fly/snap were nice and I liked the light feel of the fabric, although I'd be worried about the durability of the butt.

Love 'em!
- Fit:
- True to size
Durable, comfy on and off the saddle, smart pocket placement and space. No complaints here, except for the blue color I bought (this applies to bike clothes in general though). It looks nice and crisp out of the package, but once you get grease and other stains on them, it's quite difficult to remove.

I'm 5'-9", and these shorts are the perfect length I was looking for, just over the knee standing, and they don't get caught over my knee when riding. They feel light weight over the legs, and very comfortable and secure around the waist. I like the fit so much I find myself wearing them a lot between rides too

Just like you have mechanic that is your go to guy, these are my go to shorts. They fit true to size, though Canadians seem to be tall and skinny so if you're a little shorter they might be a little long. My shorts are 8 years old and still look like new so they might have shortened them up over the years but I can always double check that if you are interested. The 4 way stretch is a great feature to have for those steep descents and you're off the back of the saddle or when you find yourself in an odd situation. The DWR is nice too To keep the fabric from absorbing all of your sweat. The waist tabs allow for a bit of adjustment too depending on the time of year you are riding or if you're letting a friend from out of town use them. Over the years the wear has been minimal and the construction has been good enough for me to still use them 8 years later. The venting is also just enough for those rides, long or short, in the heat. I never found an issue with being too cold. I am 5'8", 170lb with a 30" inseam and own the mediums. The fit is pretty spot on

I agree with you. Nice material/quality but fit is strange. I found the medium was too tight for me (32 inch waist), but it was tight in the weirdest way: across the butt and crotch. I suppose I could have ordered the large and tried it, but from the medium I had the feeling the large would be tight in the same areas. I'm guessing this line of clothing is meant for very skinny legged people.
