Light and mighty.

The Smith Maze Helmet doesn't have a bunch of thingamajigs, jibjabs, and doodads, but it is a light, clean, and bombproof brain bucket that's designed to protect your head, so you can think about the next big booter, deep line, or double-kink that you're lining up. At just 12oz, it's the lightest fully certified snow helmet on the market, but it still comes with key features like a self-adjusting Lifestyle Fit System, Airflow Climate Control Vents, and removable, audio-compatible Snapfit SL2 earpads. Smith's AirEvac 2 goggle-compatible ventilation system prevents your goggles from fogging, and the PC plastic shell and EPS foam liner protect your medulla oblongata from getting rattled after a big hit.

Cool helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This helmet fits great! It is super light and comfortable and looks good. I'm excited to take it out on the slopes.

Cool helmet man...

So, I hate to admit this but I’ve been riding in my Boeri helmet (because I love it) for about 10 seasons. I recently moved and can’t find it so I picked up the Smith Maze based on reviews. It’s sweet! Fits well and I slapped in the Outdoor Tech/Smith Chips and I’m ready to ride. This is a no frills helmet and for the price it gets the job done and looks good!

    Pretty rad

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't know what can be said about this that hasn't already.
I mostly use it for backcountry cause its light and doesn't have a bunch of stuff on it that can be broken by banging around on my pack.
My only gripe and its not that bad.. the ear pads even with removing the small piece of foam cover my ears so much I can hardly hear.

Other than that I love it!

    Lightweight and comfy

I had the same Pro-Tec helmet for like 15 years before pulling the trigger on this sucker. Everything I read about the Maze touted the light weight. I agree. Crazy light. The design is also minimal but sleek, not rigid with hard edges or anything. That said, I bought this helmet toward the end of the season and haven't really bonked my noggin yet, so I can't speak to the functionality. Also, the inside is softer than my old helmet, but I can't hear as well. I don't know what's up with that. Maybe my hearing is going. Oh, the fit. The way they list the sizes, I'm on the border between a medium and a large. I read these helmets run a little small, so I ordered the large. It fits perfectly.

      Simple And Lightweight

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My mom's been on my case about buying a helmet for a while now. After a lot of shopping around I decided on the Maze and it's great so far. It's pretty low profile, feels lightweight and it's simple looking. I normally don't like wearing a helmet because of the feeling of having extra weight and bulk on top of my head but I don't even notice this one. I'd suggest this helmet to just about anyone.

      Simple And Lightweight

Comfortable and light as a feather

I was skeptical about buying a helmet. I never used one when I ski which is dangerous. Finally, I asked a staff member at Backcountry for help and she recommended this and it turned out to be awesome ! I was concerned it would be heavy or uncomfortable but it's so lightweight it's like you're not even wearing one. Also keeps you warm when snowing. Highly recommend.. great price and the most comfortable!

        simple yet effective

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Simple and stylish. This helmet is low key and fits great! I had no problem using smiths size chart to make the right selection for me. I have only tried it on but I will update this post eventually once I ride with it! So far so good though!

        The Only Helmet I Use

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Absolutely love this helmet. Had one for two years that was starting to get beat up and went ahead and ordered the same one. Why change a good thing? Super low profile and light, sits on top of your head and looks stylish with any goggles. I pair it with the I/O 7s but this helmet will kill it with any set up.

        Great Helmet!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I didn't try on this helmet before I got it so I was nervous getting it but I absolutely love it! I got the size medium and found out you can make it a little bit smaller so it is now the perfect fit! Since I didn't try it on I knew this helmet would fit my head compared to another brand, this brand has ovalish shaped helmets and some other brands have more rounded helmets, so this fit perfectly!
It is really simple and still keeps your head warm or lets some air in on warmer days. And it is also an amazing price!

        Simple and amazing

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet fits great, keeps my head warm, and is barely noticeable. I was a little worried about fit, being that it doesn't have a knob for adjustments, but I am constantly surprised how I don't even feel it on my head. If you're looking for a helmet at a lower price point look no further than this.

        Great Product Great Price

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently purchased this helmet for the best ski season in Utah in recent years. I love this helmet! Super lightweight with plenty of ventilation. I wore it while night skiing in low temps and my head stayed warm without wearing a hat under it.

I would recommend using this helmet with Smith goggles. They are made to work together and provide the best protection and comfort.

I would recommend this helmet to anyone!

        Low Profile & Lightweight!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After being hassled by friends and family for a long time for not wearing a helmet while skiing in and out of bounds, my boyfriend and I finally caved in and decided to go for helmets. We had heard about the Smith Maze from other people, how much they loved theirs and how lightweight and low profile the fit is. My boyfriend was probably more reluctant about a helmet than I was, so I made sure we tried on a dozen or so before making a decision. Luckily we found the Smith Maze in a store and had the chance to try it on and compare with other models from Smith, as well as models from other companies. Hands down, easiest decision, Smith Maze was the best choice for us.

I've used it several times now and I usually forget that I've got it on. I've even reached up to scratch my head a few times only to fail because my helmet was in the way. Kind of silly, but that's how lightweight and comfortable it is.

        Low Profile & Lightweight!

The lightest and cheapest helmet out!

This baby is a staple on the ski hill. She's light, and relatively inexpensive for how nice it is. highly recommended!

          Excellent helmet

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this helmet before a recent ski trip and it's really excellent. It's lightweight, has comfortable (I mean really soft) padding, and is warm (but breathable). I really would have forgotten I had it on, had it not saved my skull from a couple of bumps during the trip. Highly recommend it.

          Nice for the price

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use to own this same helmet until a couple days ago and cracked it. This helmet is very comfy and fits nice with a beanie on too. I would totally recommend this helmet for any age! great product!

          Got it. Love it.

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is an excellent helmet. Light, durable, comfy. Worn it in everything from 10-30 F and my head was never too cold or too hot. I don't have a whole

          Smith Maze Helmet

          • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This Smith helmet was given as a gift to one of my friends who informed he loved every aspect of it, except the fact that it did not have the option to open and close vents.

          Protect yo neck

Easily the best bang for your buck available today. At $110 the Maze undercuts most competitors and has the added benefit of being extremely lightweight (don’t think you forfeit structural quality at the expense of lightweight materials, mine has seen more than a few impacts. Furthermore, I have four pairs of goggles, all of which are entirely compatible. I do think the Maze runs slightly small if you leave all of the padding in.

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet is great because of how light weight it is. Works well with my Smith I/Os.

            All Day Comfort

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I originally purchased the medium but swapped for a large to have a bit more room for a hat on cold days. Fits great, looks great, works well with my Smith goggles.
