Sport cookies.

We like to measure the desirability of a given food by the likelihood of us eating it in the middle of the night. If this likelihood were to be quantified on a graduating scale, most energy foodstuffs would rate a solid zero. As in, there's zero probability of us getting out of bed, pouring a glass of milk, and indulging in a lump of tar, raw oats, and desiccated kale. Skratch Labs' Cookie Mix, on the other hand, is a different story. Because it produces cookies. And our midnight snack-o-meter operates on a scale of zero to cookies, with cookies being the highest mark.

Nighttime indulgences aside, though, Skratch's Cookie Mix is also the ideal consumable for when you're on the warpath, even when compared to the bricks, tars, and goops that we've become accustomed to. Aside from the zero-to-cookies scale, we claim this for three reasons. First, it's insanely easy to turn into cookies. Just mix in softened butter, one egg, and any additional ingredients you'd like. Then bake. Ta-da: portable energy.

Second, the cookies have a similar nutritional footprint to other energy consumables, but at a two-to-one ratio. So instead of one chewy lump of matter, you can enjoy two cookies. The most obvious difference on the nutrition sheet is that the cookies provide just one gram of protein per serving. We like this because digesting protein is difficult and energy intensive. Skratch's cookies let you save protein consumption for the recovery snack. They also have more moisture, which means they're easier to ingest and digest and they don't require half a water bottle to choke down.

Finally, we can pronounce every ingredient on the list. Like with the Exercise Hydration Mix, Skratch has once again used "simple" as the key metric for deciding what goes into the Cookie Mix. This means that there aren't any indigestibles or ground-up yoga mats for your GI system to struggle with in the middle of a hard effort. When you're depending on your body to process hundreds or even thousands of calories quickly and efficiently, give it what it knows.

  • 13.9-ounce mix makes approximately 18 cookies
  • Add an egg and stick of butter, as well as chocolate, fruit, and nut extras
  • Moist enough to carry in a cycling jersey pocket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These were very soft without falling apart and had great flavor, perfect for eating on a ride or hike. The chipmunk who got into them loved them too. Cherries and chocolate chips are my top pick for additions.

Awesome Cookies

These cookies are awesome! I was a little worried when mixing them because the were looking a little dry. However, the end result was great. I added almonds and bananas to the mix.

    Notta Bad Cookie

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pretty hard to mess up a simple cookie right? WRONG! I've done it, and my lady won't let me forget it whenever I get the itch to bake something delicious. Why not take out the guess work, and let Skratch Labs do the hard part for you?

    So much yes!!

These cookies are literally the best mix I have made. SO yummy!! It was a little tricky to mix to me, but I figured it out. It just felt really dry at first and I felt like I needed to add more, but it ended up perfect!

I added some pecans, chocolates chips and coconut and they are divine! I am eating one as I write this haha.

Buy this mix!! You won't be disappointed!

      So much yes!!

      excited to try them out

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

seems simple right, add an egg, stick of butter some other goodies and BAM tasty cookies!

      Cookie monster

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These have turned into a snack around the house, I bake them for rides too, but I usually end up eating them up before hand. I like mixing in nuts, craisins, coconut....lets just say they are very customizable to suit your taste!

Make it how you want it

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Skratch labs may make the best cookie mix out there. Real food for real people. Nothing you don't need and the opportunity to mix in the flavors you love. I don't love raisins or other fruit in my cookies, so they don't make the mix. I do love chocolate and peanut butter, so those get mixed in every time.

      Bars be-gone

This cookie mix is da bombbbb dot com. Perfectly chewy, substantial, and delectable. I have a hard time making myself eat cardboard-esque energy bars (*coughimlookingatyouclifbar*) when I'm on long rides or mashing out miles and vert in the mountains, so I get into the bad habit of not eating as much as I need to... aka, the dreaded "bonk." Having these portable little nuggets of deliciousness makes it way easier for me to get the calories, sugars, and salts I need while out and about, and they're muuuuch easier on the tummy.

These cookies are delish!! I don't do eggs or dairy, so I make vegan (or dairy/egg allergy) friendly swap outs.

          Instead of egg:
1 Flax Egg (in a teeny bowl, mix 1 tbsp ground flax seed + 3 tbsp HOT water and let sit for 5 min before adding)
1 medium mashed ripe banana (slight banana-y taste)
          1/4 cup applesauce

          Instead of butter:
          1/2 cup coconut oil
          1/2 cup Earth Balance

My personal faves right now are chocolate chip walnut cookie bars using coconut oil and a flax egg, or cinnamon + cardamom walnut bars using mashed banana and Earth Balance with chopped dried figs.

          Taste great

Awesome to have in the pantry. Just add whatever extras you want

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These cookies taste awesome! Not exactly the most nutritionally sound product, but altering the amount of butter the recipe calls for will help with that.

          soooo good!!!

I am finding myself reordering this stuff because it is so easy to make and so so good. I made mine like they suggested and put a bunch of frozen berries with them and I couldn't stop eating them. I would suggest to really drain them, or use fresh berries. I think the extra moisture of the frozen ones left them a little more soft than I wanted, but they still were so good. I love the clean and simple ingredients and is a good, yummy filler when you are on the trail or riding your bike.

            So Damn Good

This cookie mix is obviously a bit more pricey than what you'd find at the grocery store, but it is way good and I guess I'd like to think a bit healthier since it's Skratch. Probably not really the case though. If you're a Skratch fan you gotta try it. Bonus points if you add in a mix in like nutella with it to make it more 'healthy'.

              • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The scratch lab cookie mix is simple and amazing. 1 egg and butter and your favorite extras. Thats it. Super simple. Highly recommend it.

Easiest Cookie I have ever made

              • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Simply take the mix out, butter and egg. Mix it and form the cookies to place in the oven. On top of all that...these are really good! Finished them up in less than an hour after making them.

an excuse to eat a cookie

              • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yes I eat these while riding and it feels like I'm eating a cookie that I shouldn't. Very satisfying, easy to make. I would recommend it to about anyone.

              Oh My!

              • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This mix is amazing, and most importantly, helps you SIMPLY make an great tasting cookie that can be taken during and after your workouts. During a 4-6 hour training ride, you need fuel but if you bring along some of the mass-market "energy bars", they taste like crap and you soon start to avoid eating which is dangerous.
Buy this mix, add in your favorites (chips, walnuts, cherries, etc.) and you will make great tasting cookies that you will devour and want more!

              • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've purchased several boxes of these over the months. I've made these treats for friends and my backpacking buddies. Everyone loves them, for any occasion. I love the simplicity and how it is easy to customize the flavor of the "cookie" you decide to make. Also, good source of energy when backpacking or climbing walls. Strongly recommend!

              Yummy and easy

              • Familiarity: I've used it several times

By far the best tasting homemade energy food out there. You can mix in all kinds of stuff to your liking. Use some applesause or canned blueberries with juice and you won't be disappointed.

Used for a 12 Hour overnight MTB race

              • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have had this mix for 3 weeks and was waiting to concoct the best add-ins to the mix. I ended up doing Banana, Walnut and Cinnamon chip. They were amazing. My team loved them and it gave them the energy to keep going for the long haul. GREAT product...
