Life is better with nice tools. These may be considerably more expensive than another brand's hex set, but the value is right on par with the price. There won't be a need to buy another set of Allens after you have this on your work bench. Whether you're considering this set for yourself or as a gift, the answer is yes, you do NEED them.

Give Away Your Old Hex Wrenches

Everyone has a pile of hex wrenches sitting in their tool box so what's the point in buying a $100+ set? Put one of these on a fastener and you'll get it. The tolerances are much tighter than lesser brands and the rough coating does keep these from slipping out of your hands. The box looks so nice and the additional bits and bit holder are a bonus. My one small complaint is that the magnet on the bit holder could be a bit stronger. Give all your old wrenches away and get these and you will not be disappointed.

Yes, the Silca HX-One Home Essential Tool Kit is an indulgence and a luxury. Yes, tools with the same function can be bought for a fraction of the price. But then again, so are carbon bottle cages, made-in-Italy bib shorts, and high-tpi road tires. After years using the same set of basic ball-head wrenches with a mis-matches 2.5mm, I splurged on a set of these. They are very hard steel with a smooth finish, so they slot into bolts with exceptional ease. the textured paint on the handles mean they are easy to grip and hard to drop. The wooden box means they are best for home or workshop use, but owners of this set will seek out opportunity to use them!

As with everything that Silca does, these tools are top notch. The tolerances for their Hex heads are so tight that it is almost impossible to strip a bolt when using the correct size. as a shop mechanic, we would go through 5mm and 4mm wrenches about once a year. when we moved to these, we hadn't needed to change wrenches in 2 years and counting.

I have plenty of tools and hex keys, so I’m not sure why I bought these. That delusion evaporated as soon as I received these. I knew when I opened the box I would never use the other tools I have ever again. There may be some tools where you can go cheap on, but Hex keys are certainly not one of them. Made from S-2 Tool Steel, dipped in chrome and then sprayed with a textured polymer, Silca is definitely changing the game when it comes to tools. This is a perfect gift for the holidays.
