Regulate your airflow.

When CO2 cartridges were first developed in the early 1980s, inflating your tires accurately was a bit troublesome. With Silca's invention of the EOLO, the user finally had the ability to control the flow of air, making cartridge use much more mainstream. The EOLO III is the latest version of Silca's simple CO2 inflator.

The EOLO III was constructed using an ultra-precise spool valve design with light action spring. This ensures control of airflow into the tire. The EOLO III contains no plastic parts. It is made in the USA from Alcoa aluminum and stainless steel. Three rings on the body improve your grip and shield your hand from the cold flow of the CO2.

Silca's EOLO III comes with two 16-gram cartridges. Silca considers its CO2 cartridges the best in the industry, as they guarantee that they hold 15.5-16 grams, while a 16-gram cartridge is only required to hold 14 grams. They are produced in Austria by the same manufacturer who produces most of the cartridges for airbags and life vests.

The Silca EOLO III - CO2 Regulator with 16gr Cartridges is available in the color Red.

  • Gives you control over airflow
  • Rings for grip and comfort

Works for me.....

I've put it through the wringer

Light, compact, and sturdy. Can be a little awkward to depress, but easily correctable after you have used it once.

did the job, very compact

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only had to use it once and I tested it once just to get an idea how to work it. worked well for a small compact unit. nice that it has some control over air flow. not quite as good as the slightly bigger non threaded units but if you are saving space it works.

Worked for me

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only had to use this CO2 pump once, when a friend of mine had a flat on the trail, but it was quick and easy to get done. No complaints from me.

Left me stranded

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The first time I tried this inflator it pulled out the valve stem when I unscrewed it - wasting a CO2 cartridge. I grabbed my second cartridge and this time the inflator got stuck on the valve stem. Nothing I could do to remove it. Had to break the valve stem to get it off. Now I was totally stranded on the road and had to call for pickup. I've used several different inflators and pumps from different manufacturers and never had an issue like this. Valve stem still stuck in the inflator so I had to toss it. Total loss.

I would second the one star rating. The problem I've had (the two times I've needed to use it and couldn't, including today) is that the spool valve seizes in the housing, preventing compressing the valve so the CO2 can flow into the tube. I can take a pair of pliers and compress it (i.e. force it) and then it works fine. Trouble is, it sits for a week or two and it seems to freeze up. I suppose i could free it up before every ride to make sure it works, but that is hardly confidence inspiring when you are 30 miles from home and wondering if it is going to work. Maybe the III version is improved but for a pricey item (but seemingly very high quality) that isn't reliably functional I really just can't recommend it (as much as I like the other Silca products I have.

I've used it several times

Silca does not make cheap stuff. They don’t source cheap material, and they definitely go all out on design. This may look like the average CO2 inflator, but it’s hardly that. Made from 6063 series aluminum and stainless steel, this piece allows the ability to regulate the flow of air with design, precision, and function at the forefront. When I purchased this I realized I already had 3 other inflators, but now I can say I truly have ONE.

What the pros use

I've used it several times

Most of the top pros in endurance MTB racing are using this valve. It's very well made and worth the cost.
