Item # SID006C

Description

Keep pushing.

For over 40 years now, Sidi has been the tip of the spear in cycling innovation, with every new, worthwhile development bearing the Italian tricolor and Sidi's signature swirl logo. With the new Wire Push Shoes, the Italian legend is pushing the industry further into the future with a more refined take on the low-profile, clean-lined, and race-proven Wire design so that you can keep pushing yourself.

The Wire Push Shoes ride securely with Sidi's newly improved Tecno 3 Push fastener. Like its predecessor, the Tecno-3 Push system involves two ratcheting dials, Sidi's proprietary, non-stretch wire, and a customizable fit at the instep and forefoot. The Push in the shoes' title refers to the incorporation of a tempting little red button on the buckles' faces that, when temptation overcomes restraint, releases the ratchet's lever for quick adjustment, saving you the onerous task of flipping the lever up yourself. At ride's end, pinching two release buttons on either side of the dial loosens the wire. As with all of Sidi's fastening hardware, you can easily fiddle with the Tecno 3 Push buckles in the saddle.

The new model year of Wire shoes sees a return of Sidi's superlative vented carbon fiber sole. It shares the same construction method that Sidi developed with its Carbon Lite sole, yet it relegates the "Lite" model to the heavy bin by losing an additional 38 grams in the process. The weight loss may be due to the negative space of the vents, which shuttle cooling air into interior channels. The vent can be opened or closed depending on the temperature and your preferences — even in the middle of a ride.

Despite the weight savings and ventilation, the Wire Push soles have the same stiffness and confident power transfer you've grown to expect from Sidi, and they've also got a bit of forgiving flex for your toes while you're awkwardly clop-clopping around on the coffee shop's stained concrete floor during your mid-ride espresso break.

Also returning from previous top-shelf offerings is Sidi's improved Heel Security System (or HSS), which keeps your foot positively planted in the shoe. It involves a rigid, composite band that can be tightened or loosened with an allen key to adjust the amount of play you allow your heels. The shoe's tongue and instep strap have both been padded generously to allow for supreme comfort with tight buckles. The upper is made from perforated Lorica, a synthetic microfiber that has become a staple of our cycling shoe line-up since it became a signature component of Sidi's venerable shoes. Finally, all of the buckles, wires, outsole lugs, and heel retention devices are fully replaceable.

  • The new standard in professional road racing shoes
  • Carbon sole is light, stiff, and ventilated
  • Vent toggles between open and closed depending on conditions
  • Sidi's genre-defining last is the industry standard
  • Wire dial system ensures perfect fit that doesn't budge
  • Synthetic upper won't deform, so it fits the same forever
  • Heel cup dials to your foot for security and comfort
  • All small parts replaceable, so the shoes will last for years

Best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Sidi wearer for over 15 years. I usually wear womens, but jumped over to mens because the styles were better. It took a few tries to get the right fit, but I am very happy. Been wearing the wire vents for 8 months now and about 5000miles. They are great shoes, comfortable and stiff. The right shoe does loosen a bit, but nothing I cant reach down and quickly tighten. CC are pros at what they do. Thanks, Doug for all the assistance.

Pretty, tough too, shoes!

These are truly well built shoes stocked full of amazing technical bits. The size length seems right on and also on the typical width -- unfortunately, I have B/C feet, despite the length, so I'll return them . At the cost, I should try a more narrow type/style/brand. At to Competitive Cyclist, these guys are as professional as it gets. THANKS!

Excellent shoes

This is my second pair. Fit is perfect. Very stiff sole for good power transfer and extremely comfortable on long rides.

Sharing a customer's feedback.

I helped a customer nail down the shoe that would work best for him. This is what he had to say:

"WOW!! What an amazing shoe. To give you a little backround about myself, I am 6’1” and weigh 183lbs. I have been road cycling for the last 4 and a half years (about 2000-2500 miles per year). I got into road cycling as a triathlete, and now cycling is my passion. I’ve done many triathlons, including 4 Half ironman races, but my passion is definitely cycling. I’ve gone through about 1 pair of shoes a year and have never seemed to find “the one”. Upon opening the Sidi box, I almost immediately thought the price tag was worth it…..just based off of looks! They look like they are made extremely well and built to last. I put my normal cycling socks on and was super excited to slip my foot into my new cycling gear! My initial thought was I bought the wrong size. I felt like maybe I was a half size too big, however, with the amount of adjustments the shoe offers, I was able to get a nice snug fit. So the shoes are on and i’m ready to hop on the trainer and give my new Sidi's a go. I IMMEDIATELY felt the benefit of the super stiff carbon sole. I felt like my power was being transferred to my pedals more efficiently than ever before. I’ve been riding on the trainer (winters suck in the Northeast) since November (training for my first Gran Fondo in May). My FTP has been steadily increasing. I was at 242 FTP before my maiden voyage in the Sidi Wire’s. After my first ride, my FTP jumped to 258 and I’m up to 279 after my ride today. I’m AMAZED at the gains I’ve made over my last 2 rides! I’m almost in disbelief, considering I’ve made minimal gains over the entire winter so far. Its hard to imagine its simply from changing my shoes, but I feel a considerable difference in the power of my pedal stroke AND my legs aren't fatiguing as quickly! I am now a Sidi convert! As i’ve said before, I am a cyclist on a budget so these were an expensive purchase for me, but in my opinion, worth EVERY PENNY!! Thank you for recommending these shoes to me."

Fantastic Shoe for hard to fit foot

I tried shoes from Specialized, Gaerne, Gore and finally Sidi, all of them in multiple sizes. The Sidi was the only shoe that fit well. With all the other shoes my heal would lift up while riding.

The Sidi has a heel retention system that really works well and makes sure your foot and your heel will not come out. The closure system works very well and is very easy to use.

The quality of the shoes are also excellent and seem made to last. The shoes are not as light as some of the other shoes, but they are well built and I can tell that they wont be falling apart.

Love these shoes. They made them slightly wider in the toe box area from when I bought a pair of Genius 6.6 several years ago. At the time I had to get mega because Sidi ran narrow. I can say that this shoe runs true to size and width. Love the techno 3 boa's very easy for micro adjustments on the bike with the push button. I had a pair of Lakes I bought from CC a couple years ago and they were great. However I found that the thing I missed most about Sidi was the heel retention system. Love it, keeps the foot locked in place.

I will say that the Sidi's do weight more than my Lakes (CX237), but it is not a huge deal to me. Others might be turned off by the weight.

I think they will be great ... run small

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

190cm (6'3"), 94kg (207#), ~15,000km/yr: I've probably put 80,000 km on three prior pair of Specialized S-Works that were my go to favorites. Unfortunately they changed the design so it was time to move on. These SIDI's looked to be the "one". I've tough feet to fit, wide forefoot, hammer toes, narrow heels. I got the 45.5 which is the same as the S-Works I've ridden for years, too tight. I exchanged them for 46's and these will I think do the trick. Length is still ok, width is good despite my wide forefoot. I didn't want to go with a "wide", though I do this is street shoes, as they tend to get sloppy with time in my experience. If you are considering these suggest you go up about a half size. Right out of the box they are very comfortable and the area around my big toe joint will stretch and mold once they get wet. I agree with a previous post about the closure, hard to improve on BOA but I don't think these will be too tough to get used to and unlike BOA's I don't expect them to loosen inside booties.

So this pair will be a keeper and I'll write a more detailed review in a couple of months after I've got a few thousand km on them.

This is a 1,500km update. It took about 1,000 km (~ 2 weeks, 30 hours of riding) to get these properly "broken in" to my "frankenfeet". They were pretty comfortable right out of the box but now they are "dancing shoes". I did a 200km ~6 hour solo ride in them on Saturday with no issues start to finish. They are stiff, great power transfer, and the closure system and adjustable heel cup really allow a perfect fit. I replaced the stock insoles with Superfeet Carbon insoles which cradle my feet better and offer better vibration absorption without losing road feel on these crap chip sealed roads I ride on most of the time.
Some have commented on the SIDI closure vs. the BOA's. BOA's are great but frankly there is nothing in the SIDI closure that is not to love in my opinion, operation is very similar to the BOA and yes, you have to press the red button to adjust them on the fly but this is a minor deal and offsets the fact that they will not loosen when using booties which I've found to be an issue with BOA's. Easy to get used to, both great systems, no drama either way in my view and I switch back and forth across the several pair of cycling shoes that I have. I do think though that for a road shoe I prefer the SIDI system.

I do a lot of hot weather riding, and the vent system on these seems to work as advertised, I find them to be well ventilated.

After break in I am very happy with these, highly tunable fit, all day comfortable, and great power transfer. Expensive, definitely but I expect based on past experience that SIDI quality will mean a long service life.

Sorry Sidi, don't reinvent the wheel

I'm not one to criticize publicly. OK, maybe I am when I feel there's a benefit to express alternate viewpoints. Therefore, if you want a hearts and flowers review, I'll do my best to keep to the facts after admitting Sidi shoes are beautiful, made in Italy, and no doubt durable. My problem with them is their "patented" closure system. It's one more step than necessary. Instead of improving upon the BOA closure, they complicated it by adding the additional step requiring you to unlock the handle before you can turn it. If you frequently adjust the tension, you'll appreciate the simplicity of the BOA closure. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My other gripe is the comfort of the footbed of these Sidi's. Why not pay BOA their due share (considering the shoes retail for $400+) and instead take a page out of Lake's design book and improve the versatility of their soles to accommodate more shapes of feet. Who wouldn't pay a premium for glass slippers in cycling shoes? I put some time and money into trying all the very high end kicks available and none is close to the Lake CX 402's with their moldable carbon sole. I'm not in anyone's pocket just offering this up to people with high arches (and too often numb feet as a result of improperly supportive heals). For the record, I bought these Sidi's in neon green and loved the way they look but just never was comfortable over long rides. Most importantly, disregard everything I'm saying if you have low arches and think Sidi is the cat's meow. No doubt you'll get the nod from the weekend warriors sporting their Sidi's. However, if you want to distinguish yourself from the mob, look into a pair of custom kangaroos. Just my two cents.

I ride every day best fitting sidi shoes ever. I have 3 pairs of sidi and the wire push fits the best ,wide in the toe box , size 46 - 11.5

    Still the best!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I have ridden every high end shoe imaginable, and all perform admirably well, but the Wire's are a cut above. The fit is such that your feet feel as one with the bike; no foot pain, no hot spots, no issues at all!

Not only are they the most supremely comfortable high-end shoes I have ever worn, they are every bit as stiff as the Shimano R-321 and Specialized S-Works shoes I have recently owned.

If you're looking for the best shoes money can buy without going custom, look no further!!

Oh, and get the green while they last; could you ask for a better colored shoe!?

Very disappointed in the performance and fit of such a beautiful pair of shoes especially after breaking them in (2k). They have stretched out at least half a size and the teeth on heel straps do not hold their position if you crank too hard on the wratcheting lace.

    Incredible shoe

I struggle with shoe fit whether it's cycling or street shoe. It's always a problem for me. These shoes are amazing because you can get them to fit like a glove with the boa system that Sidi has created. Between the closure system and the heel adjustment, you should be able to make these shoes fit perfectly (provided you don't have mega wide feet). Because the boa system works so well, I find that I can tighten the shoes down less than with other systems but yet get a fit where there is (comfortably) zero movement of my foot in the shoe.

This last is, I think, slightly wider than Sidi's previous normal last. I wear a either a 10.5 or an 11 depending on the shoe, but for Sidi I wear a 44.5 and it fits perfectly even though Competitive Cyclist's chart says that would match up to a 10. In all the Sidi shoes I've worn before, the regular fit has been too narrow and I've gone to the Megas to get fit properly. In this shoe, that's not necessary. My normal width in shoes is regular to slightly wide (again depending on the shoe).

The uppers are not supposed to stretch, and I don't think they do, but they will conform to your feet. So when trying these on, put them on for an hour or so.

I like these so much, I have both the road and mtb version and find the fit to be equivalent between them.

I have about 5000 miles on these shoes. I have them mounted to Speedplay cleats and it all seems to work very well.

I tried these shoes on side by side with other high end models of competing brands and was REALLY surprised at the weight difference. I have only ridden Sidi and have two pair. They have been through the wringer for over 4 years now. So in terms of quality, they get 5 stars from me. But within a year, my road shoes stretched and the heel became very loose. I have dealt with blisters for a few seasons and am now ready for a change. I decided to try these out. For the price, I just couldn't get over the weight difference between these and other pro-level shoes! I ended up returning these because they ran too narrow in the forefoot and because of the weight.

Really Narrow and Full Size Small

Ordered the Wire Carbon and could hardly get my foot in them. Very narrow and they run a full size small. Very well built but not for regular or wide feet. I ended up with the Sidi Egro and am very happy. Order a full size up in any Sidi shoe if coming from Specialized FACT Carbon. Wore a 46 in the Specialized but ended up with a 47 in the Sidi. Only real issue is the serrated edge of the tongue. Sort of digs into the face of your ankle for the first couple of rides. Once it broke in I don't even notice it.

    Great Shoes

I have ridden Sidi shoes for a decade now and their quality and performance is second to none. The push buckle system is super easy to use and dial in on the go. Overall I am looking to have a great year on these shoes.

    GREAT SHOES, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Kudos to Kyle B at Competitive Cyclist for his help in getting me these shoes quickly! I love my new Sidi Wire Push Shoes. They are super precise and stiff. The best shoe ever!

Longer-term review - bumped it down to 4 stars because the closure system is not very well designed for on-the-bike adjustments. Having to find the little lever and flip it up and rotate it is much more complicated than the simple ratchet mechanism on other models.

I've worn many pairs of Sidi including some high-end models but these are top of the line for a reason. Everything that makes a Sidi a Sidi, just as good or better in every aspect than other models. Great Sidi fit, lighter than the rest, more streamlined, and as stiff or stiffer than their other models. I use Speedplay pedals but opted for the non-SP sole so I could get them in black. I'm satisfied - the adapter really does not add that much stack height - the adapters are simply thicker on the ends to accommodate the curved shape of the sole.

I'll post my long-term ride after these are more broken in.

Are the shoes labeled SP-Fluo/White, speedplay pattern?

I've ridden Specialized S-works for years but will NEVER go back to them after riding Sidi. These shoes fit well and the fit/finish is amazing. I noticed, though, they began to loosen while riding after the first couple of months using them. Now, after using them 9 months, the right one begins to loosen when I reach down to grab my water bottle. Even the slightest of twist of your leg and the upper Techno 3 loosens up. When training or even in a road race it's not too much trouble to reach down and tighten them a bit. (Although it is a little tricky with the little button on the Techno 3 closure.......especially with full fingered gloves. And impossible if you're wearing shoe covers on a cold ride.) Crit season starts soon and tightening your shoes up during a crit is a recipe for disaster. And you shouldn't have to wonder if the shoes you put on and snugged up at the beginning of a race are going to stay on your feet in the final sprint. Sidi shoes are as fine as they come and these are really nice. If you're a casual rider and just want an amazing shoe and don't mind having to snug them up over a ride, these are hard to beat. If you want to put your shoes on and forget about them, these aren't the best choice in my opinion. Hoping the ratchet closure Sidi's will be the answer to my problems.

Have you contacted CC or Sidi about this issue? Could it be a defect with your particular pair?

I have a 3 year old pair of Sidi Genius 5 Pro Carbon 47 mm "mega" shoes, apparently these do not have a mega size, am I correct?
