Trace Cycling Shoe

It's hard to beat hanging out at your local trail network and hammering out rolling miles of single track, but there's no doubt a challenge when you're doing it in unsupportive shoes that flex under your pedal stroke. Fortunately Sidi has that covered, with a huge array of ultra-stiff soled shoes designated for the dirt, and the Sidi Trace Cycling Shoe for Women is a pair that fits the bill. The Trace Cycling Shoes come equipped with the new MTB RS17 sole that increases stiffness without adding weight to the mix, so you can hammer out the climbs, and push to the podium on race day without flex and give that leaves you feeling squirly on the pedals.

The new MTB RS17 sole is lighter than previous SIDI MTB Soles, with a stiff nylon construction that features targeted polyurethane inserts to elevate stiffness. The sole shape is tapered specifically for mountain biking, with a little extra width in the forefoot, and assorted lugs for reliable grip when you're on foot. The toe area uses a replaceable tread, since it's the area most prone to wear and tear, and also features the ability to mount crampons, so you can elevate your grip when you hit the local cyclocross race and encounter more than just a smattering of mud.

Wrapping your foot up snugly on top is Sidi's Politex material —a burly fabric constructed by overlapping several layers of different materials, harnessing their strengths into one piece, and compacting PVC to the layers for a smooth, long lasting finish. Politex is film dyed, ensuring longer lasting color that won't fade after a summer in the sun, so your kicks stay as fresh as the day you bought them. Politex fabric is designed to resist laceration, ripping, stretching, and fading, and even hits the marks for European Green Standards, ensuring that the product is totally green, and less harmful to the environment where we spin our legs.

Topping it all off, your feet will stay secure thanks to the two hook-and-loop straps that secure your toe and arch, plus a reliable Tecno-3 buckle up top that cinches down millimeter by millimeter to dial in the perfect fit for you. The Tecno-3 system involves two ratcheting dials, Sidi's proprietary, non-stretch wire, and a customizable fit at the instep and forefoot. The heel locks your ankle into place, too, with its Tallone Sidi heel cup, that reinforces the area with protection from trail debris, and prevents deformation from extreme riding or prolonged pressure.

  • Stiff cycling shoes with a narrow, women's specific fit
  • Upgraded MTB sole with PU increases stiffness
  • Just enough flex for hiking a bike when necessary
  • Politex materials is durable and stands up to trail debris
  • Hook-and-loop and Tecno-3 closures cinch into the perfect fit
  • Lock your heel in place with reinforced heel cup
  • Replaceable toe lugs prolong shoe life
  • Crampon compatible for muddy CX race days

Small fit and uncomfortable

I've put it through the wringer
Runs small
Size Bought

These shoes fit very small and have a narrow toe box. They are stiff, which is nice for pedal efficiency, but they were very uncomfortable if I had to walk any sections of trail. The tongue dug into the top of my foot no matter how I adjusted them. I’ll stick to my Specialized shoes.

Not The Most Comfortable Sidis

I've put it through the wringer
Runs small

I am a Sidi fan, with narrow feet and high arches they are what works for me. These shoes are gorgeous and have the great Sidi (if you have narrrow feet) fit. My reason for knocking one star off is they never loosen up, the are still stiff after two years (the uppers, soles are perfect stiffness). Since I live in Texas the fabric also does not breathe well. Still they are so pretty I hate knocking them down much!!!

Nice shoe, comfortable.

I've used it several times
True to size
Size Bought

I really like these & I have a heck of a time with shoes of any kind! Fit well, great adjustability. The pink/white is quite intense- but if you're looking for something different than the typical black or red then these will surely do the trick, & they are easy to find in your gear bag or closet (-; I found they fit true to size. Having high arches & a slightly wider foot, as well as ankle issues these checked all the boxes for me. They don't bind or catch your ankle at all like many shoes do, not overly wide but don't pinch & enough toe box room to be comfortable but not too big. These are well made, broke in easily for me & a bonus they are a great fit with my cleats. Would absolutely recommend them!

Lovely but runs small

Well made and very pretty shoe. It does run small in both length and width. I would order a full size up.

Bright and shiny

I returned this product before using it

I ordered these for myself in a 37 and I am generally a 37 in just about any shoe/boot but my toes were at the very end. Overall, I liked them but returned them for a larger size in black. I loved the pink but it was very bright!

Bought for my daughter

I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I own a pair of these with the ratchet buckle that I've had for years so I bought this pair for my 15 year old daughter whose feet have finally stopped growing. She loves them and says they are more comfortable with a better fit than the Shimanos she is replacing. The new cable system i secure and is easy to adjust while on the roll. They fit true to size.

Sidi Trace

I've used it several times

I thought I would love this shoe, but I don't. They are significantly wider than my Sidi road shoes and are not breaking in well. They are cute but you can find a better, more comfortable shoe for the price.
