Trace 2 Mega Cycling Shoe

The Trace 2 Mega is stiff enough to thrive on cross-country rides yet durable and responsive enough to keep up on demanding enduro descents. A three-layer outer maintains a snug fit for a reactive feel with lots of feedback yet feels light enough to be a formidable long-distance option.

Sidi’s updated carbon sole with composite-reinforced layering supports efficient pedal strokes and encourages a brisk pace. Politex upper material wicks away moisture from inside and out, keeping your feet dry and blister free without sacrificing a weight penalty. Whether you are late in a cross-country stage or just getting warmed up on an evening trail ride, the Trace 2 is ready to push those few extra miles.

  • Sidi’s proven cross-country shoe gets an efficiency-focused revamp
  • Composite-reinforced carbon sole ensures you get the most from each pedal stroke
  • Three-layer Politex upper maintains top performance throughout the season
  • Replaceable toe lugs are crampon-compatible for less-than-ideal muddy conditions
  • Boa system and hook-and-loop strap provides dialed fit for multiple foot shapes
  • Featherweight construction allows for pedaling efficiency and all day comfort

Sidi recommends following the procedure below to ensure that you choose the right size.
Measure your foot by following these steps:
1. Put a sheet of paper on the floow with the short side against the wall.
2. Put the sole of your bare foot on it with the heel pressing against the wall.
3. Mark the point in front of the tip of your longest toe on the sheet of paper.
4. Measure the distance between the margin of the sheet of paper where you placed your heel and the point where you made the mark. Always round up the measurement to the nearest mm.
You may find that your right and left foot are different lengths. Always measure both of them and use the longest measurement as your reference.
If you are undecided between two sizes after consulting the table, Sidi recommends that you opt for the larger size.

Outstanding shoe

Great shoe. Over the last year I’ve been searching for a road and gravel shoe since I wore out my specialized from 2012-2014. Finally settled on the Trace 2 in the mega width. Had been leery of Sidi because they’re infamous for being narrow. I don’t consider my foot wide but these provide enough room for the toes and across the ball. First ride out of the box was a 90+ mile training ride and no complaints. I rate them as true to size, they’re the same as all my other spd shoes. Quality appears to be spot on. For background, I’m 98% road rider, 2% gravel on track to hit 8,000 miles for the year.

Great shoe but not all that wide.

I've put it through the wringer
Runs small

These are your typical, high quality SIDI shoe. But my issue is with the width. The foot bed is not wide and my foot is actually beginning to hang over the side after a few months of riding.

For comparison I’m spoiled as a roadie, Being used to Shimano S-phyre road shoes which are perfect for me. Recently Added a gravel bike to my addiction and found 3 bolt road shoes are stupid to use on gravel / light trail riding. Unable to justify another 400 for S-Phyre mtb shoes, or even the rx8’s, I grabbed these on sale, hoping I could be happy enough with them. I have narrow feet with med-high arch, sz 45 regular in Shimano. These fit well even as “mega”, allowing some more room for thicker cold weather socks comfortably. They also fit me well with thin socks, not excessively loose as I had worried - not the glove like snug fit im used too but still comfortable. The straps and boa type dial are ok, not as luxurious and easy to use as a full boa system, but remember the price point. Stiffness is ok with the nylon sole- I prefer stiff as possible but can live with these and they do walk off bike pretty well. Only really notice some flex when off the seat peddling, but not enough to use as an excuse for not getting the Kom on strava. Breathability is minimal, but I think a bonus for colder weather riding. I think these are a little bit beefier and robust feeling vs “gravel specific” marketed shoes but I think that will be another advantage in cold weather. overall I’m happy with them for the price. .
