Why We Like The SD15 Cycling Shoe

Designed to be as adventurous as you are, the Men's SD15 Cycling Shoe from Sidi combines the performance of a mountain bike shoe while on the bike with a hiking shoe anytime you're scrambling off your bike. These shoes are a bike packing and backwood trail rider's best ally and its beefy and soft rubber outsole offer plenty of grip on wet rocks, slimy roots, and dry slickrock alike while offering a slight amount of flex to making walking natural. Combine this with Sidi's renowned fit and build quality and you have a shoe that can handle anything you can throw at it.

Dial closures are pretty commonplace on cycling shoes these days and Sidi was one of the first to employ them with its Techno-3 System, which makes an appearance here, and with the hook-and-loop lower strap, they easily adapt the upper to a variety of foot shapes for a near custom fit. The dials resist binding and offer adjustments on the fly and are also user serviceable and replaceable, so if something breaks or wears out, you can replace the offending part and be back on your way. A reinforced heel cup anchors the heel in place whether you're on or off the bike and the heel pull tab makes getting the shoes on an easy affair for the long day ahead. The upper is comprised of Sidi's tough Politex synthetic upper with mesh inserts. It stands up to tearing, stretching, and fading while remaining environmentally friendly and allows your feet to breathe so they stay cool.

  • Equal parts cycling and hiking shoe
  • Grippy rubber lugs and slight flex keep you secure off the bike
  • Stable sole transfers power to the pedals
  • Politex upper is extra-durable and tough
  • Tecno-3 closure and hoop-and-loop strap provides a secure fit
  • Reinforced heel cap keeps your foot locked in place
  • 2-bolt mountain bike cleat compatible

Sidi recommends following the procedure below to ensure that you choose the right size.
Measure your foot by following these steps:
1. Put a sheet of paper on the floow with the short side against the wall.
2. Put the sole of your bare foot on it with the heel pressing against the wall.
3. Mark the point in front of the tip of your longest toe on the sheet of paper.
4. Measure the distance between the margin of the sheet of paper where you placed your heel and the point where you made the mark. Always round up the measurement to the nearest mm.
You may find that your right and left foot are different lengths. Always measure both of them and use the longest measurement as your reference.
If you are undecided between two sizes after consulting the table, Sidi recommends that you opt for the larger size.

Worst shoe ever

1) Zero power transfer. 2) Bad Boa system installed. It does not hold tight 3) Puts your foot to flames if you get off the saddle . 4) Never keeps your feet cool as the item suggests. I have been riding bicycles for almost 20 years in every type of terrain and I am a very experienced rider as well. This shoe almost made me give up my cycling carrier.

Well Made... but a bit too flexy

I've put it through the wringer

I purchased these shoes for a Bike Packing Adventure. I was able to ride with them for several hundred miles fo ran hour or two, and they seem to be up for the task. They held up well for my 2 or 3 hour rides. So I was happy with them. Then I took my trip. Being on the bike for 5 or 6 hours a day, really brought out the issues with this shoe. I was looking for a flexy shoe because I knew that there would be a couple days on my trip with a bit of Hike a Bike, so I wanted something for that. My Sidi Dominators would not work well in that environment, because they are meant for Racing and the souls are not conducive to walking. The Sidi SD15s looked like a good solution, they should work just fine. After 5 or 6 hours of riding, the cumulative flex caused sharp pain in the ball of my foot. All shoes get a little uncomfortable on long rides, but this was extreme. When I got the shoe they were pretty stiff, after a week of my tour, they were very flexible. My opinion of Sidi hasn't really changed. I wish I could return these but they are little past the return window. I would recommend these to someone that wants a good commuter shoe, or a park shoe. I would stay away for long tours or a performance shoe. Sidi has a bunch of great choices for those categories.

Great all rounder

Looking for a solid hike bike shoe these checked all the boxes... Great sole, light vented upper, good closure system with padded tongue. Sidi quality build. As expected from previous sidi purchases, they lack a good supportive padded insole so I added a super-feet trail insole for the full package. Great shoe so far.
