Item # SID007X

Cycling is one of the most frantically innovative industries in the world, so when a design maintains its effectiveness well enough to be labeled "timeless," then it's clearly got something going for it. The predecessors of the Sidi Men's Genius Fit Carbon Mega Shoes earned that title years ago, and the latest iteration ensures that the Genius Fit Mega's place in the wide-footed cyclist's wardrobe is safe for another year.

Like its more slender counterpart, the Genius Fit Mega features Sidi's beloved ratcheting buckle for retention. You're no doubt familiar with its micro-adjustment operation, which lets you vary strap pressure to nail the perfect fit, every time. The Soft Arch Compression Strap evenly spreads the upward stroke pedaling forces across the top of your foot while also alleviating the discomfort of over-tightening. The mid- and forefoot fit is managed by a pair of standard Sidi hook-and-loop straps that feature an additional strip of polymer teeth to ensure secure locking.

The uppers' mesh-ventilated Technomicro material is water-repellent, quick-drying, and breathable as well as abrasion- and mildew-resistant for comfort that lasts throughout your ride. It also resists stretching, so the precise fit of the fastening buckle won't be compromised during long days and hard efforts.

The Millennium 4 Carbon Composite outsole is a nylon matrix shot through with carbon fiber, blending weight, stiffness, and price in a sole that's as ready to race as it is to spin through a charity ride century. It also resists warping due to humidity, heat, and age, so you'll be wearing the these long after you've worn out and replaced the heel pad. If you've ever lost a buckle to a crash, then you'll also be happy to know that all of the shoes' hardware is also replaceable.

Good for wide feet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 46.5

I have medium wide feet and wear size 12 in sneakers. I ordered 46.5 and they are a hair wider than what I would consider to be perfect, but I like them better than standard width road shoes.

tongue pain on every other ride along with pain from the right side of my foot. Some days they are great and some days I regret purchasing these expensive shoes

    Excellent shoes..

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 45

Retired, I ride 250-400 road miles a week and have been riding for over 35 years. I never knew Sidi had a wide or "mega" shoe and having wide feet, didn't think I could wear Sidi shoes. I've only got about a 1,000 miles so far but I love these shoes. Good fit, for me, and excellent build quality. Highly recommended.

    Tongue painfully rubs ankle

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 43.5

This review causes me trouble. First, the shoe itself is fantastic, well made, stiff. My issue is the same with this shoe as with many other shoes. The leather tongue rubs the front of my ankle. Any time my foot is at less than a 90 degree angle, it digs into my ankle. This is painful and if I ride more than a couple of miles it would undoubtedly cut through the skin (maybe just rub it raw through the sock). I really wanted to love this shoe. Rather than try to cut the tongue or figure out some other way to modify this expensive shoe, back it goes. And back I go to tri-shoes. What is with the freaking tongues on cycling shoes??

Also, the wide sizing is absolutely perfect. I wear 9.5 in Brooks running shoes and have feet wide in the toe box. Cycling shoes are notoriously narrow, but these in the mega size 43.5 were a perfect fit.

I had the same issue with the tongue cutting into my ankle. I solved problem by folding the top (1/8th inch or so) of the tongue back toward toe of shoe. After a couple weeks of riding, the problem went away.

    mega means mega

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 46.5 mega (wide)

This is my first pair of Sidi genius mega's. I have a wide (EE) foot but a relatively normal size heel. The Sidi 7 fits perfectly in the heel and midfoot but is very roomy in the forefoot. I have had to compensate by wearing 2 pairs of socks which has cured the problem. I noticed someone mentioning stretch. They do need to be adjusted during longer rides. On the very plus side is the power transfer due to the stiff sole. Noticed a gain of 0.5 - 1 mph just with the change of foot wear.

    Great fit.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 42 Mega

This is my third pair of Sidi Genius shoes, my previous pair also mega size actually stretched until almost unusable, now I've used them over
many years. The new ones fit just right and I'm counting on the new material they are now using will hold its form and not stretch as
advertised . Great fit and comfortable.

Material not as supple as earlier models

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 44.0

This is my 3rd pair of Sidi Mega Genius and I admit that the outer material is not as supple as on the earlier versions I have worn. The material still is stiff after months of wear and should have that broken-in feel by now.

    Dedicated Sidi wearer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 43 Mega

I've worn Sidi Genius Mega shoes almost exclusively for the past 15+ years. Prior to that? I wore Sidi Genius regular fit shoes ... essentially, I've been wearing Genius shoes since the original buckle, the original sole, and since they only had one Velcro strap. I don't think it gets much more dedicated than that.

Light, stiff, and form fitting, no shoe has ever fit my feet as well, which is why I keep replacing older Genius shoes with newer ones.

My only quibble? The insoles are almost nonexistent. As I've gotten older and my arches have collapsed, I need more a little more underfoot support inside the shoe, so I've had to start using aftermarket insoles.

That said, I've still never found another shoe with an upper that better conforms to the shape of my feet or that cups my heel as well with no slip. Since the way a cycling shoe's upper fits is just as important what's underfoot, it's going to take something amazing to convince me to change.

    Wide Sidi shoes

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 42 wide

For someone with EE wide feet wide shoes are very appropriate for me and these work perfectly, especially after rides of longer than 2 hours.
