Fired up.

Sidi's line of Dragon shoes has long been a favorite choice for riders across the world, and the latest iteration looks to continue the tradition with the much-loved Microfibre TechPro upper and four-pronged retention system that we've come to expect from Sidi's top-end shoes. The Men's Dragon 4 Mega Shoes feature 4mm of extra space across the forefoot compared to the standard version, with a higher instep and wider heel cup to better accommodate riders with a wider footprint.

At the back of the shoes, the molded plastic heel cup is reinforced with a Sidi's Heel Security System (HSS)—a rigid, adjustable plastic band that closes the shoe more securely around the back of your heel to anchor it in place around your Achilles no matter how much power you're pouring into the pedals. You'll get less heel slip, and it's a detail that allows you to cinch down the straps of your shoes less tightly—giving you more comfort, not just more security.

Sidi's Tecno 3 fit system starts with a BOA closure that allows you to micro-adjust strap pressure across the top of your foot. It's mated to a Soft Arch Compression Strap that spreads the upward stroke pedaling forces across the top of your foot. Another BOA closure spans the midfoot, with a dial that further allows you to control the pressure across the forefoot. Across the forefoot, a hook-and-loop strap is reinforced with integrated locking teeth to resist slippage. No other system so precisely and so gently provides a customized fit.

Sidi's fully replaceable SRS sole system is affixed to the outside of the carbon sole for times when dismounting is the only option. The Dragon 4 Mega Shoes can accept toe spikes as well. As with many Sidi shoes, all the small parts (SRS tread plates included) on the Dragon 4 Mega Shoes are fully replaceable. It's nice to know that you can wear your Sidis for a decade's worth of riding with confidence that when wear and tear (and accidental damage) happens, Sidi replacement parts will be there to nurse your shoes back to health.

Wide feet - these are your kicks

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My only complaint is that Sidi doesn't make a ski boot for us fat footers. If you have wide feet and your middle toe falls asleep then starts to ache in your current shoes, this will be money well spent. If my current pair rips out, I would pay 3x the current cost to get another pair of these. So hard to find cycling/ski boots for wide feet.

Great shoe for high volume feet.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 43.5 and 44

These shoes are 4mm wider across the metatarsals than regular Sidi shoes, which is great for people with average to wide feet (mine measure 105mm wide). However, Sidi also add a lot of volume to the Mega version of their shoes. For someone with a wider forefoot but overall average volume foot, these shoes will have too much volume.

Great after break-in

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great shoe and I'd say true-to-size. These are said to be wide, but they are not super wide. My foot measures 46 and between D and EE width and this size 46 shoe fits.

Wasn't super comfortable the first couple hundred miles, but after broken in, they feel great. Just hammered out the Mountain 420 race in south TN and north GA, and they were great. My only complain is I wish they put a softer compound on the tread for better grip on hard, smoother surfaces.

Great after break-in

Comfortable, efficient shoe

I'll let folks in on a little secret with Sidi shoes that I finally learned after over a decade in Sidi's. You're supposed to cut the tongue at each of the little slits so that it can fan out around your ankle. I was already a huge Sidi fan, but that trick made them even more comfortable right out of the box!

Anyway, for the Sidi Dragon 4 Mega specifically, I got them to replace my thoroughly broken in Dominator Megas that I'd been riding for the last 6 years. I found the fit to be very similar, but that that the Dragon excelled in ease of tightening and retention. I love the BOA closures.

My 2nd ride in them was the 50 mile Silver Rush mountain bike race in Leadville, and they were very comfortable throughout -- no need for a break-in period.

    It's a great shoe!

    Great MTB Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 46

I have "frankenfeet", the SIDI "Mega" platform, on which both their ERGO Carbon road shoe and the Dragon 4 Mega are based I believe works better for me than any other. I have a narrow heel, high instep, wide forefoot ... tough feet to fit. My go to road shoe is the SIDI Ergo Carbon, I've also got the Wire Carbon Vent, which is excellent but I have to use a shoe stretcher to deform the upper in the right spots to fit my foot properly which can work but the Ergo Carbon is more comfortable for long days in the saddle. I went with a 46 in the Dragon 4 Mega vs. the 45.5 in the Mega Carbon road shoe to have room for a heavier sock, works perfectly without being sloppy.

So I needed new MTB shoes and bought the Dragon 4 Mega, fantastic right out of the box. I use these on my gravel bike for road rides in the cold and wet as well as on gravel & XC single track, and with my MTB though the majority of the time it's on the gravel bike. They are out of the box all day comfortable, the heel adjustment system is a big plus, and you can dial in the Techno 3 BOA retention system however you like with the velcro front strap a great addition for getting the toe box adjusted properly. 6 stars for fit.

I've pounded my current MEGA Carbons for 3 seasons and about 50,000km of riding, they just get more comfortable and no worse for wear. I expect similar durability from the Dragon 4 MEGA. Heel protection is good, side and toe protection is essentially the same as the road shoe. For me it is perfect but if you are hammering through rock gardens you might want a bit more protection.

Power transfer is excellent, the carbon soles are very stiff but comfortable with just the right amount of flex when you are really standing on them though you probably need to be 90kg and pushing upwards of 600 watts to feel much flex.

Definitely worth the money, best MTB shoes I've owned. Highly recommended.

    Sidi’s are the best!!

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 45 Mega

Like another reviewer said, I used road Sidi’s 10-15 years ago and loved them. I’ve been doing more xc and gravel for the past 10 years and somehow had gotten away from Sidi. I always struggled to find that perfect fit with my wide feet (and one foot a 10-1/2 and the other a 9-1/2), and tried many brands. Finally I bought a pair of Dragon 4 Mega... OMG they are wonderful!!!!! They fit like a glove out of the box - forefoot, arch, heel all perfect for both feet. Worth every penny.

    Great shoes!

I use to use Sidi many years ago and loved them. I got away from them and tried some other brands. It seemed as though the older I got the wider my feet got so I tried some wide shoes and they felt good but just not great. I decided to bite the bullet and pony up some money for some Sidi dragon mega size. I am in love. My first ride with them I put 35 miles with them on my single speed and no hot spots, my feet have not been that happy in a long time. The quality seems very good and the carbon sole is very stiff. I highly recommend these shoes.

I also couldn’t pass up on the recent Sidi sale and $50 off offer. I had been eyeing these shoes for a while and that forced my hand. After a few weeks and 200 miles I’m very happy with the purchase.
These shoes are light and have good airflow. They are stiff when pedaling but flex enough when walking or shouldering your bike. Coming from the dominators I like the boa system on the dragons. Very easy to get the perfect fit. I haven’t had to adjust the heel retention, but I know it’s there if my heel starts slipping any and need to make an adjustment. Also they look really good.

After about a month on these new shoes i couldnt be happier! After many different shoes after many many years of riding these are one of the most comfortable best fitting shoes i have ever have had. Glad i tried on and went with the mega size. The buckle system has been perfect getting the right fit with no hot spots or pinching. The only small issues i have are no toe spikes came with like every other shoes and the middle is very slippery if you miss the spd cleat right away. But besides that its a great shoe

Best MTN biking shoes I ever owned

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 42.5 Mega

I used Sidi Dominator for many years, Could not resist with the discount and another 50 dollar off item over 250 (this qualified). Used the Dragon twice already and It's more comfortable and better fit than Dominator. Both are same size 42.5 Mega but Dragon you can adjust the heel. The bottom of the shoe is stiffer for Dragon and the top is comfortable. Best Mtn shoes I ever own.

    "Road" shoes for off-road riding.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've worn Sidi Genius Mega shoes almost exclusively for the past 15+ years on the road, and Dominators for off-road/cyclocross. Prior to that? I wore Sidi Genius/Dominator regular fit shoes ... essentially, I've been wearing Sidi shoes since the original buckles, the original soles, and since they only had one Velcro strap. Suffice it to say that I am well versed in Sidi.

Light, stiff, and form fitting, no shoe has ever fit my feet as well, which is why I keep replacing older Sidi shoes with newer ones ... until now.

For my most recent pair of shoes for 2017, I opted for the Ergo 4 Mega on the road, and Dragon Mega for CX. Same fit as the Genius shoes, but with a pair of Sidi's Tecno 3 dials instead of the buckle and one of the Velcro straps.

Initial impressions are that they fit exactly the same as my older Sidi shoes, but with a bit finer adjustability at the top of my foot. I'm also digging the Adjustable Heel Retention Device at the back of the shoe. It's not like heel slip was ever a problem in any of the Sidi shoes I've worn in the past, but it's even less of an issue in these.

I'm looking forward to spending a lot of hours in these shoes.

My only quibble? The insoles are almost nonexistent. As I've gotten older and my arches have collapsed, I need more a little more underfoot support inside the shoe, so I've had to start using aftermarket insoles.

That said, I've still never found another shoe with an upper that better conforms to the shape of my feet or that cups my heel as well with no slip than Sidi. Since the way a cycling shoe's upper fits is just as important what's underfoot, it's going to take something amazing to convince me to change.

Sidi Dragon 4 Mega comes in two size 11.5, a 46 and a 46.5. What is the difference?
    The 11 is 45, the 12 is 47. The 11.5 is a 46 and a 46.5. Confused by the difference. Thank you.

You could think of it as 46 = 11 1/3 and 46.5 = 11 2/3; there is a difference in the sizes but it's not as big as you might think ... but Sidi sizing has never really correlated to US shoe sizing on an even 1:1 basis.
