the tongue of the shoe stabs the top of my foot, probably because it has synthetic material that does not have any play.

March 2022 - I have used Shimano road shoes for over thirty years and they fit comfortably from day one. I got these Sidi Alba 2s in February 2022. From the first ride, 25 miler, the tongue dug into the top of my feet near the ankle, so I figured they require a break-in period. I have been using these shoes 3 times per week for 40-50 milers for 3 weeks now. After the first couple of rides I started using thick work socks to provide more cushion. Pushing through the hills of North Louisiana I can get an elevation gain of around 2,500 feet. After 35-40 miles of climbing, the sides of my feet become sore. I've tried socks of different thicknesses to adjust cushioning, but still after pushing through the hills here comes the pain. May 2022 - I started using ultra-thin socks and leaving the straps loose while barely tightening the dials for the past four weeks. I've done two 100K's each week with elevation gains of about 3,500 feet per ride. I was hoping the shoes would stretch out a little, but it's my feet that are adjusting instead. I realize now that I should have ordered the shoe in the wide version. I like everything about the shoes except that this particular pair is too narrow for my feet. The strap and dial combo are perfect. It's a good shoe, I just bought the wrong width!

I don't have wide feet but, have a bunion on my left foot which makes narrower shoes problematic. Finding shoes that combine comfort with performance can be a challenge. I have used shoes from various makes such as Specialized, Northwave, DHB etc. All have worked okay but, with the exception of the Specialized Experts I own which are well past their prime, none have been all that comfortable on long rides. Enter Sidi. These shoes are perfect for me feet. Not narrow or overly wide and are made of supple material that conforms to my feet. I took them for a ride and never gave them a thought. The craftsmanship is excellent and they are nice looking to boot. All in all VERY happy with them so far.
