XTR RT-MT900 Centerlock Disc Rotor

Designed to keep your braking system cool on long, demanding descents, the XTR RT-MT900 Centerlock Disc Rotor rapidly dissipates heat for more consistent braking performance in extreme conditions, as well as longer pad life and reduced brake fade. These rotors are optimized for the XTR M9100 and M9120 brakes, and feature a new design that improves cooling and decreases weight compared to the previous version of the XTR rotor, the RT-99.

Employing Shimano's Ice Technologies Freeza construction, these rotors use a 3-layer design consisting of two steel braking surfaces sandwiched over an aluminum core. This allows Shimano to take advantage of the high thermal conductivity of aluminum, whereas most companies simply use steel rotors. And thanks to a new heat dissipating paint on the exposed parts of the aluminum layer, the RT-MT900 rotors see their surface temperature cooled by up to 20-degrees Celsius compared the previous XTR RT-99 rotors. The 140mm and 160mm sizes are optimized for XC and focused on weight reduction, whereas the 180mm and 203mm rotors are made for aggressive trail and enduro with an emphasis on efficient cooling.

  • XTR rotor offering improved cooling and braking performance
  • 3-layer Freeza construction dissipates heat on long descents
  • Enjoy consistent performance, longer pad life, reduced brake fade
  • Surface temp cooled by up to 20-degrees Celsius vs. RT-99 rotors
  • 140mm and 160mm rotors see considerable weight savings for XC
  • 180m and 203mm are designed for aggressive trail and enduro
  • Shimano Centerlock attachment with lock ring included

    Most attractive rotor ever?

I've put it through the wringer
    Size Bought
    120 lbs

Rotors are a pretty weird thingy to think about when looking for the sexiest upgrades you can make to your bike, but I would argue that they dramatically change the way the bike looks. I'd even prioritize black rotors above carbon wheels for aesthetics! Those ugly XT or Ultegra rotors with the white inner cooling plates destroy the look of any bike, don't even get me started on those cheaper rotors. They just look horrible. With resin pads, rotors last pretty much forever so there is no concern spending more money here for me! I got them in 140mm front and rear and that is way more than enough power for me for even the longest, most technical norcal descents. Keep in mind that I weigh 120lbs. If you are looking for a more even braking feel, ride your brakes a lot, or weigh a lot, I would recommend getting 160mm front and 140mm rear for road. What isn't to love about these rotors? - Lighter than Dura Ace (186g for the set with lockrings) - Look great - Did I mention they look great? - They also look great.

    backcountry shipping SUCKS!

I returned this product before using it

so it took 2 weeks for my product to arrive. Backcountry is in UTAH, im in Las Vegas it shouldn't take 2 weeks to arrive. I order stuff from and usually arrives the next day or 2. Product is great, Shimano is solid. But backcountry shipping SUCKS! Free shipping but you have to wait 2 weeks F**k that. Never shopping here again!

Review the product not the distributor in the rating. It’s a product review not a distribution review.

Grey/black vs grey? Could you tell me the differences? From Shimano’s website I saw only one color. Super confused. Edit: XT is silver rotor and silver fins. XTR is silver rotor and black fins.

I also have the same question. Come in BC... get your stuff together. My guess is that the Grey/Black is the XTR level RT-MT900, and Grey is the XT level RT-MT800

Specs say these are compatible with Shimano Ice Tech pads. Are they compatible with ordinary pads, e.g. Kool Stop? Will be using with Paul Klampers.

The XTR RT-MT900 Centerlock Disc Rotors are compatible with XTR M9000 SM-RT-99?????

I've put it through the wringer

Using in place of DA rotors. Lighter, truer and better looking. Nothing not to like.

Can you run these Rotors with the SLX calipers?

    They look really nice!

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These rotors look sick. The contact ring is actually the normal silver, not grey like shown in the photo. The inner part is a nice gloss black.
