A maestro on the trail.
Like many younger siblings, the Shimano XT group has spent many years in the shadow of its flashy older brother, XTR. This year, XT gets a complete overhaul and steps out into the sunshine to stand nearly eye-to-eye with its more expensive sibling. Borrowing a heap of technology from XTR and now boasting an 11-speed cassette, this new group delivers top-end functionality at a more wallet-friendly price. The XT SL-M8000 I-Spec II Trigger Shifter Set occupies front stage like a dignified conductor, directing precise and nimble gear changes to effectively navigate the changing rhythm of any trail section.
The M8000 trigger shifter was designed to maximize the fun factor and provide an awesome trail riding experience. An elongated lever body compared to previous versions provides a bigger target when reaching for a shift and reduces the force needed to engage the shifting mechanism. The main lever boasts an integrated, anti-slip surface finish for easier shifting and a lower risk of mid-shift finger slips. These features work together with a new shift cable encased in a low-friction coating for a claimed 20% reduction in the force required to shift gears.
The M8000 Shifter Set features two-way release shifting that gives riders the option of shifting the upper lever with either a thumb or index finger for easy access to gear changes across a multitude of hand positions on the bars. Multi-release functionality allows for changes across multiple gears with a single lever sweep to easily adjust to drastic terrain changes, while instant release design drops the chain into gear the moment you push the lever. To cap it all off, the XT SL-M8000 I-Spec II Trigger Shifter Set features Shimano's I-Spec II technology, which integrates the shifter and brake lever attachments into one streamlined handlebar attachment, leaving clean lines and extra space for other hardware and accessories.
