When trail riding was in its infancy, most drivetrains had five- or six-speed drivetrains. It’s hard to believe that 11 is the new high-end standard. These new cassettes have huge gear ratio spreads, some as wide as 10-42. M8000 is Shimano’s first Deore XT group to adopt the new 11-speed standard. That isn’t all that’s new for Deore XT, however. The Shimano XT FD-M8000-H 2x11 front derailleur, which is only compatible with double drivetrains, is keeping a close eye on all the new movements in mountain biking.
For its move to 11-speed compatibility, Shimano has made some important changes to its XT front derailleurs for the M8000 group. The new derailleur provides wider clearance for the new larger wheels and tires. It’s also compatible with the shorter chainstays found on many of today’s frames. Even with these changes, Shimano retains the XT front derailleur’s efficient cable routing to keep shift action light and quick.
The Shimano Deore XT FD-M8000-H Front Derailleur is for frames that require an H-type High Clamp front derailleur specifically.

I have a huffy Star Wars edition fat tire mountain bike with seven speeds in the rear. I want to add a front derailleur but the frame is not standard due to the wheels. Will this derailleur extend far enough out to compensate?
