Why We Like The XT FC-M8000 1x Crank Arms

Building up a new bump-devouring enduro sled has never been more fun. Rather than agonizing over the cost of pro-level drivetrains, self-sponsored cyclists have the privilege of riding components nicer than what the pros of not so long ago were riding. Shimano's XT drivetrain is a perfect example of this; if XTR's not in the cards, save yourself a giant credit card bill and upgrade to XT instead. The new XT FC-M8000 Crank Arms recently received an opulent upgrade, returning with better bearings and seals as well as XTR's Hollowtech II Construction, ready to barrel through the rough and rocky stuff with poise.

Before you pick up the FC-M8000 and start to doubt that it's solid enough to actually withstand the abuse you're about to give it on-trail, think about Hollowtech II. Cold-forged aluminum with a hollowed center establishes an extremely durable structure, while shaving unnecessary weight from the middle of the crank arms. Don't concern yourself with longevity or durability worries, because the FC-M8000's bombproof construction actually makes it stronger than many solid crank arms. Enjoy smoother bearings and seals better equipped to keep out dirt and debris, and rest assured that Shimano's simple thru-axle and pinch bolt design returns to make installation quick and pain-free, once again.

  • XT 11-speed crank arms ready for everything on-trail
  • Lighter construction delivers impressive durability
  • Improved bearings roll smoother and are better protected
  • Can be used as a 1x or 2x setup

Hi will this fit on my SM-BB52 bottom bracket? If not what type of cranks do i need? Thank you!

I am looking to change my cannondale slate (2017) drivetrain to shimano xt. I know I will need a the wolftooth tanpan and goatlink/roadlink but... If I were to replace the crankset would this XT work? I have a non-boost, BB30, 11 speed setup. Thanks

Is this cranckset for boost (148) or non boost (142) hubs? What is the chainline?

I want to know if these cranks would fit my bike. I have a 2012 Trek Cronus CX Ultimate. Thanks!

Hey Rye, thanks for your question. These cranks are only compatible with Shimano 11 speed drivetrains. Looks like the 2012 Trek Cronus CX Ultimate comes with a Sram 10-speed drivetrain. For these cranks to work you'll need to update your entire drivetrain.

Stiff and easy to install

I've put it through the wringer

Shimano makes the best cranks! Use them!

Ride Shimano

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm replacing the OEM SRAM drivetrain on my '16 Yeti ASRc with Shimano...can't wait to ride this Spring!!

Nuttin' fancy

I've put it through the wringer

Shimano's tried and true XT crank optimized for 1x and hollowed out for lightness. Just a great crankset at a great price. Love it, I also went with the absolute black chainring and love the system works.

I just received this crankset from Backcountry and it does not appear to be optimized for 1x. The spider has bolt holes for two chain rings. I already have a single narrow-wide installed on a 2x crankset. It looks like this "1x" set will still give a chain line as if running a double. I assumed this crankset would only take single and would position it toward the large cog side by 2 or 3 millimeters.

Great Crank

I've used it several times

This crank was simple to install in place of the older XT crank I had before. It's stiff and light, Set it and forget it!

Will this fit my 2016 beargrease carbon x7? I believe it has a 41x121 bb. Or do you have better/similar recommendations from raceface? Thx!

They have boost and fat bike sizes. Cheer´s

Great crank

This is a really great crank. Not too pricey, but good and stiff, and looks good too! I put a red AB oval ring on mine, and it is a sight to behold!

Wife's Upgrade

I've put it through the wringer

I purchased a stock Specialized Rumor for my wife and have been upgrading components as time/money permit. For $95 you will never find a better set of crank arms. I am changing her over from a 3 x 9 to a 1 x 10 system with XT all the way through. Great purchase, easy to maintain and will take any physical abuse you want to apply to them.

Does this crank set come with chainring bolts?

Yes, they come with chainring bolts :-)

Press fit or threaded bottom bracket ?

Hi Blair, These will work with a few different bottom brackets, it will depend on which frame these are going into.

Very nice and light crankset

I have always wanted XT cranks. I can't believe I got them at such an awesome price with free 2nd day shipping. Love the goat!

I interes 180mm you have?

Works great!

I've put it through the wringer

These are used on a trail bike with a 32 tooth OneUp ring. Chain line is great, no issues after several hundred hard miles.

Why would this only work with 11 speed? Couldn't it work with a 10 speed single as well?

Solid Performer

I've had about a half dozen rides so far on my complete XT 1X11 set up, on mixed single-track, moderate downhill and serious climbs. So far I love it! I know it's not as light as the SRAM drivetrains, but the cost and simplicity of the drivetrain swap pays big time. No dropped chains, no mis-shifts. I'm really loving it. Coming from a 3X or 2X set up, I don't have the top-end road speed, but who cares! If you're thinking about upgrading, do it.

good cranks, no BB

The tech specs made me beleive that this came with a shimano bottom bracket, but the crank arms do not. Still real solid crank arms to say the least but wish for the price it came with a bottom bracket, for the same price I could have gone with a zee crankset and it would have come with chainring and BB

Hi, I have a Scott Spark 950 with shimano fc m622 crankset, will this xt crankset fit with the bottom bracket installed? I think its BB92
