ShimanoXT 10-Speed Chain CN-HG95
Item # SHI000T
Shimano pushed the shifting performance of Dyna-Sys 10-speed components by making a directional chain with four different plates -- both sides/inner and outer. It's understandable that it would seem they've reached the zenith in chain technology, but that's not how Shimano works. Instead, with the CN-HG95 XT 10-Speed Chain, they found a way to reduce friction by 60 percent between inner and outer links.
A new Sil-Tec treatment on the plates allows them the freely pivot around derailleur pulleys, cogs, and chain rings. Back to the directional aspect of Dyna-Sys chains, since the action of climbing up ramps and pins from one chainring to another is slightly different than climbing up one cog to the next, Shimano chose to shape the left and right side plates differently to optimize the plates for each specific purpose.
The resulting CN-HG95 Chain works in harmony with the 10-speed systems to provide a shift quality unrivaled by any of Shimano's previous efforts.
- Zinc alloy, steel
- Directional/asymmetrical plate design
- Sil-Tec treatment
- Compatible with Shimano’s 10-speed components

It's a Chain
It’s your standard shimano chain. Easy to set up on the drive train. So far shifting is smooth and on target. Solid chain.

Puts the power to the ground

This chain does its duty and seems to keep on ticking. I made some contact with a rock that exploded my derailleur but the chain stayed in one piece. I just wish Shimano would ship these with at least 2 pins instead of 1. At least they're easy to pick up at any bike shop.

Great chain at a great price. Threw this on after upgrading to a 1x crank with a Wolf Tooth 42 tooth cog in the rear. The chain fits perfectly on the narrow-wide chain ring and I have yet to drop a chain since the conversion.

I've run Shimano XT HG-95 chains on all my geared rides, and most recently, I put one on my single speed build. So far, so good, no issues whatsoever. Since most rides these days are coming out with 11 speeds, the 10 speed chains seem to be losing popularity, thus their price keeps coming down! If you're still riding 10 gears, or SS, definitely pick one up!

Ive used XT chains for years now and still have yet to break one. They do what you need and seem to last quite a while. Price aint too bad either.

Easy to install, shifts great, and with proper care it will last many miles. Haven't had any issues with dropped chains and it seems handle variable weather well. I will likely purchase this again when the current one eventually wears out.

GOAT IS GOOD
- Familiarity:

Fair price—works as advertised (which is to say very good) on my XT group. Did not survive a wilderness ride that involved rain, mud and clay and a delay in cleaning the chain (rust everywhere).
