Description

Wheel fast.

Keep your wheels rolling down the trail with the Shimano XT CS-M8000 Cassette. Packed with 11 gears of fun, this cassette features a combination of aluminum and steel cogs to keep weight down while staying tough enough to handle all the torque you can throw at it.

While the XT cassette holds onto a little bit of extra weight compared to its XTR sibling, the CS-M8000 stands out as a perfect choice for riders looking for top-level quality at a more affordable price point. Shimano engineers this cassette with rhythm step gear progression, ensuring precise shifting every time to eliminate pesky distractions such as ghost or missed shifts out on the mountain.

The Shimano XT CS-M8000 Cassette is available in two sizes to accommodate differing ride styles and needs, and the enormous 40, 42, or 46t cogs are knee-savers with one-by drivetrains. Both the 11-40t and 11-42t options feature a wide cassette sprocket and optimized gear steps to move the chain smoothly across their ranges and get you smoothly across varied terrain.

  • A cassette that solves the budget vs bling conundrum
  • Blend of aluminum and steel cogs sheds weight where possible
  • Gearing increments ensure you've always got the right gear
  • Compatible with Shimano or SRAM 11-speed drivetrains

Really great option for my gravel bike

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This works with the longer cage Ultegra derailleur no problem. Totally saved me on a gravel fondo with 6k of steep climbs.

Shimano Junk

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this just shy of a year ago. the 2 largest cogs are SHOT. who ever thought aluminum was a good material for cassette cogs is an idiot and Shimano warranty claims this is just normal wear. DO NOT BUY THIS CASSETTE. you have been warned.

XT works fine

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

No need to run XTR...XT works great, lasts long, shifts perfectly. Best to pair Shimano cassettes with Shimano chain...just my opinion.

Butter

With the exception of cassettes I usually use sram. I put this on my double duty cross/gravel bike. It works like it is supposed to. Clean shifts!

    Classic, Tried and True

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Probably one of the best cost to effectiveness options on the market for your bike, the xt m8000 has been a no-nonsense option that's worked for 1000's of miles in the Wasatch on a number of different bikes. 12 speed is nice, but 1x11 gets the job done with a little more leg power. Although not the lightest, this setup is highly versatile and an easy choice for someone looking for a decent new cassette.

    11 Speed Isn't Dead

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am slowly upgrading my mountain bike as parts wear out and when it was time to replace my SLX cassette I made the natural move to XT. Saving some grams is always nice on an XC mountain bike or any bike for that matter. Shimano XT is the way to go for a 1x11 setup. Affordable, durable, and lightweight!

Best bang for the buck upgrade

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This wide-range cassette is perfect if you are looking for an inexpensive 1x11 upgrade. I have these on 2 of my bikes and I love the wide range for my single ring up front. If you are looking to upgrade your drivetrain to 1x11this is the best bang for the buck.

    11 Gear of Fun

XT is the gold standard for Shimano MTN bike parts and this cassette fits perfectly into that standard. I bought this because my old one just had too many watts on it... over 3000 miles of dirt covered brutality in it. New chain and a new cassette = brand new bike feel!

      Good Casette

Paired with mine shimano xt di2 derailleur, this cassette is buttery smooth throughout all gears with regular chain maintenance. I would say this cassette is a close second behind sram's eagle drive train.

        Gift For the Homie

Got it for a friend and he says it does all he wanted it to do.

        Best around

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

        11-46? HUGE RANGE
        HG freehub? NO PROPRIETARY HUB!
Classic stylings, great range, and reasonable pricing for a fantastic piece of componentry.

        Great Product - Perfectly priced!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Decided to upgrade from a 10spd to 11spd. Thought about saving a few $ and going with the SLX cassette. But, based on the price difference, I figured might as well pay the little extra. Happy I did. a Buddy of mine purchased the SLX blend ripley and converted to the M8000 rear derailleur at the same time I went m8000 full rear (xtr shifter). There is a noticable difference in how smooth the shift quality is on my bike vs his now. He went so far as to ride my bike, feel the difference, then come back to comp cyclist and purchase the XT cassette.

I've used XT Cassettes for years

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm never disappointed with these components.

        Awesome

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

What a great cassette ,durable great price what also you can ask...

Reliable, seems to be long wearing

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Reliable, even wear, works with any 11 speed chain. 12 speed would be great but this is a tremendous value.

        46 was what I needed

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The 46 tooth is just enough of a granny to make almost any climb doable.
switched from a 42 tooth and it was a great choice.

Do you need a long cage to run the 46?

        Shimano value and quality-thumbs up

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The shear volume of great reviews on the XT lineup speaks for itself. I'm running an XT 1x11 (46t) drivetrain and love it. Yes, there is a pretty large jump between the 37t and 46t granny gear but its nothing that's gonna ruin your ride. The 46t cassette I bought is the most cost effective drivetrain upgrade out there. You can retrofit your 10spd HG freehubed bike into an 11 spd 1x gear monster with just a shifter, cassette and chainring...that's all you need. Yes, there are prettier, shinier, more goldier cassette options out there, but for shear bang-for-the-buck upgrades, nothing beats the XT drivetrain. Good stuff to get your goods going.

        Good but cheap 1X11 solution

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is great solution for anyone who wants a good but cheap 1X11 solution. Shimano cassette is made of great materials/construction, crisp, and effortless shifts. This cassette it does the job well, like shimano XT components typically do.
