Classic, Tried and True

Probably one of the best cost to effectiveness options on the market for your bike, the xt m8000 has been a no-nonsense option that's worked for 1000's of miles in the Wasatch on a number of different bikes. 12 speed is nice, but 1x11 gets the job done with a little more leg power. Although not the lightest, this setup is highly versatile and an easy choice for someone looking for a decent new cassette.

11 Speed Isn't Dead

I am slowly upgrading my mountain bike as parts wear out and when it was time to replace my SLX cassette I made the natural move to XT. Saving some grams is always nice on an XC mountain bike or any bike for that matter. Shimano XT is the way to go for a 1x11 setup. Affordable, durable, and lightweight!

Best bang for the buck upgrade

This wide-range cassette is perfect if you are looking for an inexpensive 1x11 upgrade. I have these on 2 of my bikes and I love the wide range for my single ring up front. If you are looking to upgrade your drivetrain to 1x11this is the best bang for the buck.

11 Gear of Fun

    XT is the gold standard for Shimano MTN bike parts and this cassette fits perfectly into that standard. I bought this because my old one just had too many watts on it... over 3000 miles of dirt covered brutality in it. New chain and a new cassette = brand new bike feel!

    Good Casette

      Paired with mine shimano xt di2 derailleur, this cassette is buttery smooth throughout all gears with regular chain maintenance. I would say this cassette is a close second behind sram's eagle drive train.

      Great Product - Perfectly priced!

      Decided to upgrade from a 10spd to 11spd. Thought about saving a few $ and going with the SLX cassette. But, based on the price difference, I figured might as well pay the little extra. Happy I did. a Buddy of mine purchased the SLX blend ripley and converted to the M8000 rear derailleur at the same time I went m8000 full rear (xtr shifter). There is a noticable difference in how smooth the shift quality is on my bike vs his now. He went so far as to ride my bike, feel the difference, then come back to comp cyclist and purchase the XT cassette.

      The 46 tooth is just enough of a granny to make almost any climb doable.
      switched from a 42 tooth and it was a great choice.

      The shear volume of great reviews on the XT lineup speaks for itself. I'm running an XT 1x11 (46t) drivetrain and love it. Yes, there is a pretty large jump between the 37t and 46t granny gear but its nothing that's gonna ruin your ride. The 46t cassette I bought is the most cost effective drivetrain upgrade out there. You can retrofit your 10spd HG freehubed bike into an 11 spd 1x gear monster with just a shifter, cassette and chainring...that's all you need. Yes, there are prettier, shinier, more goldier cassette options out there, but for shear bang-for-the-buck upgrades, nothing beats the XT drivetrain. Good stuff to get your goods going.

      Good but cheap 1X11 solution

      This is great solution for anyone who wants a good but cheap 1X11 solution. Shimano cassette is made of great materials/construction, crisp, and effortless shifts. This cassette it does the job well, like shimano XT components typically do.

      Great componentry

      Shimano makes the best the 42T (up from the XTR 40T). Smooth shifting, easy install, etc. Run a Shimano chain w/quick link.

      The Workhorse Groupset

      I think that the XT groupset is one of the best you can buy at this point. They are fairly light, very reliable, and will last forever. Not to mention, it's super affordable! Easy to install and also really easy to maintain. Might not be the ultra light race set up you want, but is just flat out reliable.

      Best Cassette for my Bike

      This was the best thing I could have done for my Surly Krampus. The stock 1 x 10 was tough to use for climbing. When I switched to 1 x 11 it helped tremendously for climbing and extended the amount of time I could spend on my bike. There is just barely enough clearance with my plus sized tires (29 x 3). The bike Gearheads really helped me in getting the right set up. Consulting them before buying may really save you a lot of time and frustration for your next set up.

      Who would have thought that one day the large cog would be bigger than your brake rotor. I was skeptical of 1x for a long time but riding it on a long bikepack in Baja made me a believer. The jumps between gears are a bit big in some cases but the shifting is smooth and the low end gearing is great for hauling a loaded bike up long mountain passes.

      Update. Still running strong with no shifting issues. Lots of miles on cogset.
